With Happiness Day coming up (August 8th), I figured what could make it a happier month all round than a sweepstakes? And now comes the copycat action (stolen from zzz, stolen from rootmartin): If you wish to participate in the sweeps, please sign up by posting here plus PMing me with your name and address. If you only want to send a book, you don't need to PM me with your details, but do mention it here in the thread so I can add you to the list as a sender only. Full details are below, but in brief the way it works is like this: All names are put into a hat, the first name drawn is the Winner, the second name drawn is the Decoy. All participants except the Winner will get the Winner's name and address, while the Winner gets the Decoy's name and address. They then send one book of their choice to the "Winner". The deadline for sign-ups is July 31st 2010 and I will draw the names and send everyone PMs on August 1st. And then the fun begins—the Sweeps Winner will find his or her mailbox filled with goodies for weeks to come! The Details and Finer Points: 1. As the organizer of this Sweeps, and the winner of the last one, I am exempt from winning and will be responsible for organizing everything and drawing the names. The winner from this Sweeps will then be responsible for organizing the next one, and so on. 2. If you'd like to enter, please reply in this thread and also PM me with your full name and mailing address. 3. If you only want to send a book, but not receive, you can sign up as send only and you won't be entered into the drawing for the winner. If you'd like to send only, please reply in this thread, but it's not necessary to PM me. 4. This is an International sweepstakes so you will be expected to ship overseas depending on where the winner or decoy is located. Please don't sign up if you can't do International shipping as it's not fair to the winner. 5. On the drawing date indicated above, I will throw all names into a hat (or random.org) and draw TWO names. The first name drawn will be the Winner and the second is the Decoy. 6. The Decoy's name and address will be sent to the Winner. All other participants, including the Decoy, will receive the name and address of the Winner. 7. Don't tell anyone the name you received, nor PM the winner to let them know their books are coming, lest you inadvertently discover it's YOU!! The Winner will not realize they've won until their mailbox starts getting flooded with books!! 8. The winner is free to do exactly what they want with the books they receive: read them, make them available to others, wild release them, whatever... it's their choice! 9. All genres are fair game, regardless of if you think the winner will like it or not... though it's often nicer to send them something they'll probably like than not. That's another part of the fun—getting books you wouldn't normally pick up yourself. It really opens the winner up to new stuff. Due to popular demand, the only restriction on type of book to be sent is NO Harlequins and other series romance. 10. The winner of this Sweeps will take over the responsibility of organizing and hosting the next one. Normally in about 4 months, but the details are up to you. 11. I will make a general announcement on the forum when the winner's name has been drawn and will then start PMing all entrants with the info. PLEASE DON'T SHARE THE WINNER'S NAME - LET IT BE A SURPRISE WHEN THEY START RECEIVING LOTS OF BOOKS!!!! Again, sign-up deadline is July 31st!
