My nieces moved up here recently & one of them reads like it's going out of style. she's read twilight & percy jackson series. any suggestions? her mom doesn't want it to be graphic. she didn't mind how twilight eluded to stuff, but she doesn't want it to spell it out. thanks in advance. |

I know of some good paranormal teen books but I have a teen boy not a teen girl. I don't know of the other books girls might like. ![]() I'll make of list of the teen paranormal books that my son and I have read. That's if someone else doesn't get here first and post the ones we've read.

Does it have to be paranormal? If not, my 13 year old likes the Life Of Riley series by Joanna Nadin or anything by Cathy Cassidy. Jacqueline Wilson does some older teen books as well. |

I don't know too much, but some of the teen girls I teach at theatre are very into the Georgia Nicolson books by Louise Rennison. I have never actually read one though... |

Tamora Pierce does fantasy. She is really good. I started reading her when I was 9 and I still read her now. |

I read through Tamora Pierce's Tortall books in December 2004 through March 2008 -- three quartets: Song of the Lioness, The Immortals, and Protector of the Small. I also read the Trickster Series (which is set in Tortall) as soon as I could get my hands on them. I have not read her Circle books. I think Pierce's Tortall books are excellent for teen girls, but may be a bit beyond the tweens. The books cover a period of time where a young girl is maturing and there are references to sexuality -- though nothing more explicit than kissing. If you felt that the Twilight books were OK, you should have no problem with Pierce's Tortall books. |

If she likes the vampire type stuff there is also Amelia Atwater-Rhodes. I've only read one of her books (I'm not into the paranormal stuff)-- In the Forest of the Night-- she was like 13 when she wrote it, so I'm sure it would be age-appropriate. |

The Vampire Kisses series by Ellen Schreiber. Even though they are young adult, I really enjoyed the series. Give 'em 4.5 stars!!

they don't have to be paranormal, (I don't think) I'll get more details when I see her next- she said she doesn't read harry potter but that's the only thing I know. I will pass on the list and I don't think it has to be gender specific so cheesy please share the list. thanks for all the books (that one day I might read.) |
