Say why the last picture made you think think of the picture you have submitted.

e.g.

The first time I saw sugar lumps I was 17! I went to Iceland and they have them with coffee (this might be quite normal in Europe? but I've never seen sugar lumps/cubes here), and it reminds me of the fabulous Icelandic morning/afternoon teas - mmm, Icelandic pancakes!

Mmm, pancakes! My grandmother made the best pancakes, and it was a special treat when she would make pancakes for breakfast with real maple syrup from my uncle's sugar bush. She lived by the lake that's in this picture, and owned a resort similar to the one that had this photo on their website.

Watching sailing boats on Stowe Pool - Lichfield - no boats in the picture, but you can see the old boathouse and the cathedral behind it.

That picture reminds me of a school camp as a kid. Sandflies have always been attracted to me (I'm like a decoy so no one else gets bitten) and this time was particularly bad, I found out I was allergic and one bite got infected and blah-di-blah. Ugh.

I sunburn easily also but that reminds me of a particular time when I was on antibiotics and went to a Renaissance Faire. The antibiotics made my skin even more sensitive to the sun and I was terribly burned and uncomfortable.

But the faire was still great! This photo from someone's blog is from the Living Chess game at that same faire in Tuxedo, NY. In fact, I should look it up and think about going this year.

That reminds me of a story my sister told me while they were in New York.

Her and my cousin were on the Subway and Meagan(sis) got off and Shelley (cousin) was looking at the Subway map and Meag didnt realize that Shelly didnt follow her until it was too late for Shelley to get off.

Meagan got on the next one and found Shelley at the next stop.

That reminds me of when I was in Munich for a few days. I went wandering around after seeing some sights. Decided to head back to the hotel, thinking I could just use the maps on the bus shelters to navigate, but after a few hours of walking I finally had to admit that I was reading the maps wrong - I was in a suburban area, all lovely houses, no shops. Worked out how to read the bus maps properly and made it back by the end of the day. :giggle: I do like getting lost though - you see things you never would otherwise. :P

I'm loving this thread and the stories that it brings to mind for everyone!

I also love wandering about when traveling and I'm reminded of my 1992 trip to Italy, which is the first time I remember doing that. Instead of getting a map and trying to see sights, sometimes we just aimlessly explored. In Verona, we accidentally found our way past old city or fortification walls and up to an overlook with fabulous views of the city. I have no idea who this guy is, but clearly he found the same spot (perhaps in a more planned manner).

There's something extra special about wonderful views when you're not expecting them!

Reminds me of not being allowed to stand at the edge of a cliff for a photograph when I was young even though my big sister was allowed to!

Reminds me of fjords (not that I've ever been to one of those) and glaciers. I visited this glacier once. It's near Anchorage where my brother lives. The intense blue of the ice in glacier ice must be seen to be believed. A picture can't really do it justice.
