Some of those I have listed in bad were actually just sort of so-so, but just not good enough to be listed in the good

I'm thinking someone didnt realize this was supposed to be the list of good/bad and wallbanger chick lit not general fiction!

Guess it looks like that. Well it does not say from the title.

Did youy see my post fantasy?

And what about Vampire books. Are they not a different genre than chick lit?
For instance I like CL but don't like Vampiry books :)

Trying to add some good chick lit to my wish list, but it is hard.

It's not a big deal but it does say it, the subtitle is "thoughts on chick lit"

and yes I did see your post but I haven't had the time or the inclination to update the top post. Sorry! I'll get to it at some point.

Jillian, may I make a suggestion? In categories were the title has been mentioned more than once, instead of listing the book twice, can the person's name just be added at the end?

Like this:
GREAT
Confessions of a Shopaholic (Ri, Breeni)

Instead of:
Confessions of a Shopaholic (Ri)
Confessions of a Shopaholic (Breeni)

This might save you some typing.

I'm going to go back through what books I've read recently and see if I can add any. It's been a while since I've read some chick lit though.

I try to stay away from chick lit. I can tell you that I detested Bridget Jones's Diary.

I did *not* think Shopoholic was great! :giggle: :tease:

Seriously, I do think that Midori by Moonlight by Wendy Nelson Tokunaga was great!! It was the first chick lit book I've read in a while that I really enjoyed.

I did not like Shopaholic at al. How annoying!! :o

But Can you Keep a Secret was great. Kinsella has a new book out. Maybe it will be just as good, although i doubt.

I haven't reviewed this whle thred - so if I"m repeating something.. sorry.

but in regards to "chick lit" much if what i'm seeing appears to be thinly veiled "romance" novels. Is anyone else of this opinion?

Edit: also when I hear or say "chick lit" somewhere in my mind I go "Chicklet" (the gum) and I begin to giggle...

I have a really good read and a wallbanger to add to the list.
Amazing read:
Her Royal Spyness by Rhys Bowen It is listed in the mystery category but I also see people are putting it the romance / chick-lit too, so am mentioning it. My temporary review of it can be seen in the ALS swap of last week.

Wallbanger:
A Connecticut Fashionista In King Arthur's Court by Marianne Mancusi (my review is in the JE)

As I explained to my daughter last night, "chick lit" seems to involve a 20-ish girl/woman, dating (though not necessarily romance), and humor. An awkward heroine seems to be a major requirement, too.

I agree with elsi. Personally, I prefer that my chick lit books have a romantic subplot. But that's because the bulk of my reading and my favorite genre is romance :)

Can I add My Favorite Mistake and Nearlywed by Beth Kendrick to the good, please?

maybe I'm reading the wrong examples of Chick-lit. They seem all romance and very little plot. and only one had humor in it (and while it wasn't very good.. the humor was fun) Think Paris Hilton in full swing.. ad nauseam. or perhaps an individual sex in the city girl without the decent writing..

I don't mind well written stories with romance in them but.. sadly I'm encountering bad novels and hefty doses of (what seem to me) more than stupid women. That annoys the blazes out of me. :scream:

Mind you I haven't read what I'm going to be offering up in the next chick-lit swap. but I read from folks that they like it.. and it looks pretty.
