Title: Time for a genre swap hosted by me
Description: what genre do we want?
cheesygiraffe - March 16, 2007 03:52 PM (GMT)
I'm itching to host a swap. I want a themed one though. What genre are we really wanting to have a swap for right now?
These are the genres I read the most but I'm open to suggestions.
I'll figure out a good time to host it later. Probably the end of this month. ;)

I cant decide (Im a libra) but Im open to just about anything
ladiibbug - March 16, 2007 04:16 PM (GMT)
Cheesy ~
Will the swap be here or at BSL? I'd love to swap at this site!
I voted for Paranormal, but Cozy or Mystery would be great too.
Yay! Let's do it soon - my one swap a month max rule is not working out so well for me, I'm having serious withdrawls! :duh:
ramson - March 16, 2007 04:21 PM (GMT)
Cheesy you are freaking me out. You and Lauren now have the same avatar. I had to triple check who started this thread!
cheesygiraffe - March 16, 2007 04:37 PM (GMT)
I changed it. I didn't know she had it or I wouldn't had used it myself.
caseyw - March 16, 2007 04:56 PM (GMT)
Were your ears burning, Cheesy!? I was wondering when you were going to host another swap.
CheriePie - March 16, 2007 07:37 PM (GMT)
FYI, I talked about it last month but didn't put it in yet for this month, but most of the others who played already know I'm planning to host a paranormal/fantasy swap here at the end of the month. I'm thinking the 25th.
So definitely NOT a Paranormal swap... since it'd conflict with mine. :P
ETA - So I wanted to vote for both Mystery AND Cozy Mystery but my vote's not included above.

I didn't mean to make you change it. You could have snuck into the YBS and stole books as Lauren's alterego. Mwaahhh hah ha ha!
giz-angel - March 16, 2007 10:51 PM (GMT)
LOL ramson!
I voted mystery cos cozy ones make me :bash:
Danesnboxers - March 19, 2007 05:18 PM (GMT)
hehe, I voted for my usual.
mysterious - March 19, 2007 09:05 PM (GMT)
Yep...I picked Romance again too!
Weeeell, there is this one book........I keep wanting to pick up to read.
A new author I have never read before. Only 5 copies found on BC, it looks more like a general crime mystery and I think I nabbed it at the library sale because of the setting and characters....oh...and the murder!! :)
B&N and Amz people liked it !!
redhot-brat - March 19, 2007 11:17 PM (GMT)
They all sound good to me, except romance.... I'm not real big on those. I voted other though cause a) I couldn't choose just one and B) I was going to suggest one for humor books.
CheriePie - March 19, 2007 11:34 PM (GMT)
I just tend associate you as a mystery gal cheesy! My oblique giraffe!
I was trying to figure which of my mysteries were cozies and which weren't. I came up with
this post which also linked to
this article. And that helped somewhat...
So take for instance, the Blackbird Sisters Mysteries or the Abby Cooper Mysteries. Cozy or not? I'm leaning towards yeah, but not postivie. How about books like Don of the Dead by Casey Daniels and Don't Be Afraid by Rebecca Drake? Or the Stephanie Plum books?
And brat, mysterious was only kidding the romance thing.... I'm not big on romance either, though I love paranormals. But I've found that so many of them are really just romances in a paranormal cover and I don't care for those as much. If it's got humour (like MJD's vampires), or is even more of an urban fantasy or mystery, then I like those much better. :D (Like Kitty and the Midnight Hour which I just finished... great book and no mushy face! )
cheesygiraffe - March 19, 2007 11:49 PM (GMT)
The Blackbird Sisters Mysteries or the Abby Cooper Mysteries are cozies. Most definitely!
Don't Be Afraid by Rebecca Drake is mystery not cozy at all IMO. I've read it. ;) Don of the Dead by Casey Daniels I haven't read yet. I don't know if it's cozy or not.
Stephanie Plum books I would consider cozy. :)
I don't like much romance either. I KNOW mysterious was kidding on that.
EllyMae58 - March 19, 2007 11:53 PM (GMT)
If you do a mystery swap, why don't you make it all mysteries, cozy or not? I don't consider Abby Cooper cozy mysteries, but that's just me.
P.S. I found this online, if it helps anyone.
A cozy is a mystery which includes a bloodless crime and contains very little violence, sex, or coarse language. By the end of the story, the criminal is punished and order is restored to the community. Here's the full page.

Yeah I read the writing world one... that was one of the ones I mentioned too. :) But yeah, some are kinda on the border of the two. I'm gonna read the other one you linked up too Kel after I send this...
If books like Stephanie Plum and Abby Cooper and the Blackbird Sisters are all considered cozys, then I have mostly cozy mysteries here. But I do have a few non-cozies, like that Rebecca Drake one, and the jury is still out on Don of the Dead as I haven't read it either.
But if you were to make it a Mystery swap, does that mean you'd specifically exclude cozies then? Or only the other way around... where if it were a cozy swap, anything non cozy wouldn't be allowed?
cheesygiraffe - March 20, 2007 02:12 AM (GMT)
If it's a mystery swap any kind of mystery is allowed. SS, thriller, suspense, general mystery, cozy, ect.
If it's a cozy swap then of course it's just cozy mysteries. :)

Okay so you can take that Other vote from the poll (which was me) and put it towards Mystery then. :D
Any idea when you're thinking of doing this? Cuz we usually have a Paranormal, Fantasy, etc swap last Monday of each month over at BSL, but as I said with the last one which was chat here/play there, I'm gonna do it here this month and make it Paranormal/Fantasy but was trying to decide on the date, keeping it with the 26th or going out to the first week of April.
Of course I'll get ideasa in a seprate topic, but ....
*sigh* don't mind me, I was just bawling my eyes out over the news and now I'm all shaking... they were showing the dog food thing and all the sick animals at Angell Memorial and many that have dyed and I havent been able to stop crying....
anyway... *sniff* just wondering when your thinking of for this. thanks hon!
cheesygiraffe - March 20, 2007 02:27 AM (GMT)
Hmmm Maybe I'll do it on April Fool's Day.
Yes and now they'r saying they except the death toll to rise because of that food. Very very sad. :(

I think April Fool's day would be a great day for a swap, CG. :)
I read about the pet food recall in Sunday's paper. I had just bought a few packages of Nutro something-or-other on Friday! In fact, Scooter HAD SOME IN HIS BOWL when I read the article! Thank God he hadn't eaten any of it!!!
I'm taking the rest back to the store. They were all on the list. :(

Oh thank Goddess you got it from Scooter's bowl in time!!
I couldn't believe they only just reported it on our local news today though... what was it like 2 days ago when the news first came out! No wonder so many poor pets around here have fell ill to it.
What got me bawling though is when they showed Angell Memorial in Boston, one of the best pet hospitals in the country actually, I'll miss knowing it's so closeby when we move... but they were saying how at least like 8 dogs here have died, I forget how many cats, and they were showing how full the ER room was....
Cool, I like April 1st for the date too cheesy!! :bananadance:

I found it at Yelim's ... my son just LOVES that site. He collects smiley's.
Have we decided on a date yet ? April Fool's Day ?
It looks like it's gonna be a mystery Swap ... by a landslide. Good news to me. That's my fave genre. Well it ties with horror for first anyway.
candy-is-dandy - March 22, 2007 12:28 PM (GMT)
I voted for a mystery too. Will you be posting a sign-up thread or is this it? If so count me in.
