In the old forum, when we would log in or get a PM a little window would pop up showing us part of the message in our inbox.

Can we do that here, is that an option I need to select?

Yep it's an option.

My Controls -> Options -> Board Settings -> Board Display Settings -> Do you wish to get a pop up notification when you get a new personal message? -> yes

I had that option marked yes, but I bet my browser is blocking the pop-ups :bash:

You know... I have that checked too.. but I often don't get notified of PMs by the site. Wierd.

Maybe firefox is being too effective blocking those popups. Heh.

Firefox blocks mine from coming up. ;)

I've never had a problem because right from the get go, I added bookobsessed.com and www.bookobsessed.com to my Allow Popups list. So put the URLs in there and it should work just like you're used to. Note however that it'll only come up on a page change. So if you're reading a long page, and a message comes in, the popup won't actually come up until you go to a new page or something.

ETA - I use Firefox.

Ya know... I figured it out, when I have a mesg and I log in, it has a little bar that shows up under my tabs that says firefox blocked a popup :doh: So, I allowed popups from this site, and now ... it works. :thumbsup:

Okay, well, I did that, and it worked wonderfully for a while, but this week it hasn't been... even though the option is checked and bookobsessed is definitely allowed pop ups...
