Title: Want any of your data from the old relay database?
Description: leave your requests here...
CheriePie - February 15, 2007 09:47 PM (GMT)
I got a copy of the old relay database from CasualReader. :bananadance:
Though it doesn't include any attachments, it's got all the posts, everyone's PM mailbox, etc. Unfortunately, it's not quite in a format usable by the not-so-technical. I simply took the dumpfile, which is what it's called in SQL terminology, converted it back to a full SQL database readable in my older version of mySQL, and am using
phpMyAdmin as a web interface to view the data. The data is still in mySQL database format, but makes it accessible via a web browser instead of via a terminal screen like telnet or ssh.
If all that boggled your mind  no worries! Suffice to say that's why we're asking you to request it instead of trying to teach everyone how to view it themselves. Also it's not really worth it time-wise to locate a utility to pull it into a freeware copy of phpBB or another free bulletin board. And we don't have any kind of direct import capabilities in this forum.
Any data you'd like retrieved would simply be a copy of the text in the post itself, by default in HTML format, though it's easy enough to convert to BBCode for pasting into this forum directly using one of any number of converters on the web. (I'll probably convert it for you before sending it, so all you'd have to do is make any edits you want and then just paste it into a new message.)
So leave your request here in this thread if there's anything you want. :)

The only thing that I can think of that I might like is my last TBR owed post, just so I can be sure that I am not forgetting anything.
Thanks for offering Cherie!!

Thanks for offering Cherie but I can't think of anything at this time.

Hmmm.... the contents of my PM inbox, maybe?
I know there were a couple things I was saving for some reason, though at the moment I have no idea what or why.
Although, really, I don't know if I need it. I can't say that I've missed anything... *ponders*
I dunno!
I'm glad you got the info, though!

I got your message Pepper. And since the PMs are stored in a couple different databases, with topics linked to a single individual message in case it's held by more than one person. I pulled together the SQL statements needed to extract your data and the best format to send it to you in will be a CSV or Excel file... so I'll grab that for you later 2nite. Let me know if you have a specific preference on the format. :) Otherwise, I'll just do CSV since that can be read into any number of apps.

Hey Giz,
I'm trying to determine the right thread. I see one started by you on Dec 21, 2006 titled New International Bookmark Box, sign up here. I'm assuming that's the thread you're looking for? And not stuff from the one started by Helly that it replaced right?
And so that was still in sign-up phase mode right? Or should I also be looking for a play thread that perhaps doesn't have the word bookmark in the title?
Assuming I'm on the right track with the thread I mentioned above, then I'll pull the posts and get a consolidated list for you.
CheriePie - February 18, 2007 01:33 AM (GMT)
Giz, is this all you need then or is there more?
Post # 335850 from Giz-angel, last edited Wed, 10 Jan 2007 23:29:49 GMT
(and the time of the last post in that thread is Wed, 10 Jan 2007 23:22:36 GMT so it would definitely seem that the first post is up-to-date since it includes the latest request from SueFitz.)
========================
Because our International bookmark box has got lost, we are going to start a new one :D I will start it in the first week or so of January, and it will end up with Cosmic-gin in Australia at the end (she started the last one so she's not had any bookmarks yet poor thing!)
So I'm taking new sign ups, to see who is interested in participating again, and who wants to join for the first time! Please, even if you are on the list for the first box, say here if you want to participate. I'm not going to assume anyone is still interested as the box started ages ago.
Rules
1. Add as many bookmarks as you take out.
2. Add a description to the list so we can work out who put in what mark.
3. Post here when the box arrives and when you send it on.
Box Order
1. Giz (UK)
2. cats-eye (UK)
3. malagan (Netherlands)
4. Intry (Finland)
5. Kislany (Cyprus)
6. zzz (Serbia)
7. Morsecode (USA.NY)
8. LadyJanet (USA.IL)
9. Zosime (USA.WI)
10. Melinda (USA.WI)
11. Pyan (USA.WI)
12. CTGMOM (USA.IN)
13. Tranq1 (USA.FL)
14. Suefitz (USA.CA)
15. Geishabird (Canada)
16. Breeze (Canada)
17. Cosmic-gin (OZ!)
If anyone else wants to come in, just PM me or post in the thread! :D

Can you send me the info on the valentine's day exchange from this year? Pretty much I just need to know who did it.
It was brought up in the mayday exchange. I remember I hosted a swap on V-day (on bsl), and I know I hosted an exchange, but for the life of me I can't remember what the dang exchange was!

That's cool! never mind then. :) I just wasn't sure if it was me or not at the time. I thought I had the file saved in my yahoo briefcase, but I can't get into yahoo briefcase here at work, but I ended up figuring out that it wasn't me :P

Could I possibly get the Everybook VBB Books Out of Play Thread from the old site?? (Just the first post with all the books listed is what I would like.) No rush!
Thanks!

Hmmm... any idea why this wouldn't be showing up in a search for EveryBook? So far, the only thread I'm turning up that includes the word "EveryBook" or "Everybook" in the title is titled "EveryBook VBB Round 2-01 Sign-Up Thread, starts December 1" and was started by nwpassage on Fri, 24 Nov 2006.
Obviously I realize that's not the thread you're looking for. It's the Out of Play thread. Do you recall what the title of the thread was? Since it's not coming up in a search?
PS - I did receive your PM, but yeah, it got lost among all the various reveal posts and whatnot, so posting here is definitely the preferred method so that I don't lose track of things in my inbox. :)
UPDATE: Do you think this might be it? Although why the title of the VBB isn't included in the subject is beyond me....
