Title: Apart from your Valentine's Exchange gift...
camis - February 14, 2007 01:25 PM (GMT)
What else did you receive for Valentine's Day??
I got absolutely nothing
DH never remembers
giz-angel - February 14, 2007 01:33 PM (GMT)
I got flowers yesterday  and we are exchanging cards and gift tonight when I get in from work.
He knows better than to forget - camis DH :whip: :whip:
wss4 - February 14, 2007 01:47 PM (GMT)
Nothing yet, but dh wanted money this morning so he could go shopping. ;)
cheesygiraffe - February 14, 2007 01:56 PM (GMT)
Nothing yet but hubby will probably get me a little something. My birthday being the day after means less for today. Oh well I got my awesome v-day packages from Giz which more than made up for it. :D
CdnBlueRose - February 14, 2007 01:59 PM (GMT)
We don't celebrate Valentine's Day. :)

This is pretty much us too.
lauraloo29 - February 14, 2007 02:35 PM (GMT)
Don't celebrate it either. Everyday is Valentine's day for me. lol
lizziwhizz - February 14, 2007 02:42 PM (GMT)
both of us let the other know that our presents likely aren't arriving in time for Valentine's Day  I wanted to get him a pair of hospital scrubs but I had to check on the sizing and then the local Uniform place didn't carry tall sizes anyway, so I'm gonna have to order them.
I'm pretty sure he got me the 7th season of Buffy from my amazon wishlist; he's so silly! I still haven't got the 6th season yet  But it's still a thoughtful gift because he hates Buffy and picks on me mercilessly for loving it :P will wait till tonight to see for sure what he got.
we're also not big on valentine's day--this year we just kinda randomly decided to get each other presents, but we don't generally. that's why he proposed on valentine's day--he knew i wouldn't see it coming (and he was right!)
kislany - February 14, 2007 02:45 PM (GMT)
Nothing really, an sms from hubby that he loves me  We decided last year to not keep Valentine's day anymore, after having gathered a bunch of silly bunnies and what not. It's only a commercial thing that they introduced rather recenlty in Europe, just to buy silly things that we dump later on anyway. We have enough occasions with birthdays, namedays, Christmas and Easter :D
needmorezoloft - February 14, 2007 02:57 PM (GMT)
I got a poem from my mom (who gave them to everyone)
and a lady at work handed out little bags of candies (about 10) and those kid/school valenties.
and um... yeah.. that's it.
I'm always single on V-day (except for when I was married, and he didn't get me anything either)
So v-day usually sucks for me :shedevil:
geishabird - February 14, 2007 02:58 PM (GMT)
Every year my boss gives everyone in the office a little goody bag of chocolates labelled "From An Ardent Admirer". So far I've had two with my morning coffee...
Later today one of the agents is treating the support staff to Chinese food for lunch. :)
Ri - February 14, 2007 03:05 PM (GMT)
DH and I celebrate the anniversary of our first email to each other which happened on Feb 15, 1999. Wow! 8 years! We usually get some small chocolates or something for each other (half price since it is the day after V-Day!). I'm not crazy about flowers, candy, stuffed animals, etc on V-Day since it feels so commercial. DH got me a potted orchid about 2 weeks ago just because and I like that much better! Flowers on V-day never tend to be of the best quality anyway unless you pay an arm and a leg.
I made a cherry tart yesterday that we have been enjoying as well...

We don't either really. Our anniversary is later this month.
mom2cass - February 14, 2007 04:40 PM (GMT)
Nothing yet...DH is getting over a nasty cold. But I am getting him a Card today and some cinnamon bears. We went to Victoria BC a couple weekends ago so that was our V-Day  !
chronicbooker3 - February 14, 2007 04:45 PM (GMT)
I received a gift certificate from hubby to have my nails done and wax job :o
From my best friend I received in the mail a nice package full of goodies

cartoon movie of Charlottes Web\

nursiegirl42 - February 14, 2007 05:05 PM (GMT)
We went out to breakfast together this morning and went to the store and got some stuff for our boys.. we always get them some stuff! I don't like to spend money on flowers that are going to die and I really don't need chocolate I can get the candy I like anytime of the year!! But I got my great packages from NMZ so I have had an awesome day!!
caligula03 - February 14, 2007 05:20 PM (GMT)
I don't participate in exchanges so I got nothing this year. No big deal.
nvangel2073 - February 14, 2007 05:34 PM (GMT)
I got cards from my hubby and my son and I got some flowers. But V-day isn't a big deal for me. Since my b-day is next week.
EllyMae58 - February 14, 2007 05:57 PM (GMT)
Nothing. :(
I sent a few cards out, but I haven't received anything.
My department here at work is having a potluck later. Someone decided that we needed to hand out Valentines like 2nd graders, so I'll be getting those.
Sunlightbub - February 14, 2007 06:32 PM (GMT)
We don't normally do valentine's day. I haven't seen hubby yet today as he left ot run to work before I got up. He did leave a bunch of roses on the mat...althoughth they could have been from the postman
( I bought hubby Naked by David Sedaris)
tranq1 - February 14, 2007 07:15 PM (GMT)
Nothing so far. DH went out. Maybe he will bring something home. My 5 year old grandaughter called this morning to thank us for her card. She asked if I had gotten my card. Maybe it will come with the mail this afternoon.
Breeze144 - February 14, 2007 09:23 PM (GMT)
My Dad sent me flowers at work today!
I was so surprised and the kids were so shocked! I think more that I have a Dad than that I got flowers....

My bf gave stuff to each other for the first couple of years we were together but we've been dating too long now that we don't care. It's just a money-making "holiday" so why bother.
We're not even in the same country so that make things a little difficult too
PepperVL - February 14, 2007 10:28 PM (GMT)
Nothing. I've only gotten stuff for Valentine's Day once in my entire life... I generally don't celebrate.
I'd rather celebrate love every day than on some Hallmark Holiday.
intrycksflikka - February 14, 2007 10:55 PM (GMT)
First year as a single on Valentines day since the last 7 years. So nothing romantic...
Received a card from a friend though
I don't think that Valentines day is so special and commercial here in Finland, it could be much worse. We call it "Friends-day" or "The day of all hearts", much more friend-related...
Rebemdee - February 14, 2007 11:00 PM (GMT)
I decided to turn the tables and sent my husband roses. I got them from proflowers.com, and they just SUCK! They look terrible. So rather than bitch without proof, I emailed proflowers and included photos, and they offered to resend the flowers. I'm going to wait until after Valentine's Day to do it. I got off work early today and went shopping for tri-tip, salad, green beans, bread and champagne, and am going to make hubby dinner. I'm crockpotting Kahlua Pork too because it's one of his favorites and he can make pulled pork sandwiches when he comes home for lunch during the week. We decided not to go out to eat or buy gifts, although I couldn't stop myself from getting him flowers. I should have bought them at Costco, they had beautiful flowers for half to a third of the cost of ordering and they looked much better.
Today started out pretty horrible when I dropped my Christmas-new white gold hoop earring down the drain, so DH's gift to me is to take apart the plumbing and get my earring back for me.
We're celebrating lots of good stuff; the new job, and I found out yesterday I passed my oral boards. Life is good, and it's our first married Valentine's Day! Yay!
noumena12 - February 15, 2007 12:04 AM (GMT)
Nothing...except DH did make dinner reservations. That's mostly because he knew I was just getting back into town (then leaving again in 39 hours) and he knew cooking wasn't an option. He knew it was VDay which meant going out to dinner (even to our usual places) was going to be a nightmare. I won't get anything else...but at least HE made the reservations.
ramson - February 15, 2007 12:30 AM (GMT)
Not 100% sure but I think I am getting dinner and a card from BF. Money is tight for him right now and I told him under NO CIRCUMSTANCES was he to buy flowers at a jacked up Valentines rate and not to be extravagant with a gift, either. He called today just as I opened the oven to see I had charred the dinner I was cooking for tonight so he offered to bring me dinner at work for my Vday pressie. I got him a shirt and a box of chocolates wrapped in foil that look like playing cards. He is a poker fanatic and a chocoholic so I thought that would go over well. I'll give him that later when I get home from work.
My only other Valentine was from a co-worker who gave everyone 2 mini-packs of m&m minis and a Valentine Kit Kat with kiddie Valentine's cards. I love the card since its Piglet from Winnie the Pooh.
Then there is the HUGE Valentine's Box I got from nursie. More details about that in the opening day thread.
FranciJo - February 15, 2007 12:30 AM (GMT)
I got a surprise visit from my husband at lunch today. He came to my office to enjoy our potluck with us and brought me a heart-shaped box of chocolates -- because I told him that at age 40, I've never gotten a heart-shaped box of candy! And he remembered! It was so hokey and cute.
And, I got a nasty e-mail from my ex-husband (of eight years). It was the perfect reminder of why I left the passive-agressive control freak. When we were married, always managed to do something perfectly evil on or near Valentine's Day. I guess was missing his rotten tradition. (And he actually still wonders why I left. What an idiot.)
Well ... that was a rant! Sorry! I'm over it now! (Mostly! :P )
AceofHearts - February 15, 2007 02:10 AM (GMT)
My DH took me out for a very nice dinner :D
appaloosatb - February 15, 2007 02:49 AM (GMT)
I got a care package with some treats from my parents.
We also have a wonderful volunteer at the shelter who takes Remy (the dog) home every weekend. She sent us all chocolate and a card from Remy.
cheesygiraffe - February 15, 2007 03:02 AM (GMT)
Hubby got me some flowers. Calalilies and some other kind of lily. Very pretty ! Plus he gave me my birthday present early. A pair of aquamarine and diamond earring. :D
CheriePie - February 15, 2007 05:05 AM (GMT)
We don't celebrate too much here either... just little things, like the deeds. I got a one of my favorite dinners (@home) which is a raspberry walnut gorgonzola salad and salmon on the side, a truffle cake for desert, and a nice card! :D oh and kisses!!
SciFisstrs - February 15, 2007 05:16 AM (GMT)
I didn't even get kisses yet from my dh. He hasn't been home since Monday. But I did get a kiss from Turtle and a happy wish. Meg gave me small box of candy with a card with words from the heart :D
CheriePie - February 15, 2007 05:47 AM (GMT)
Oh, and I totally forgot... as my gift to him, he's gonna get a good shagging till I've no strength left in my body!
aren't I thoughtful?? hehe

'Cause, you know, you're not going to enjoy that at all. :shedevil: :shedevil:

Hey that's what I gave my hubby for Valentine's Day! :booty:
KarinAlyssa - February 15, 2007 05:10 PM (GMT)
I don't have a boyfriend, but Valentine's day was awesome ! My choir sang singing telegrams all day and some recipients gave us candies, chocolate and great smiles ! Later at the campus bar, there was an auction of students called "Buy your Valentine" and the money is going for Relay for Life, a cancer fundraiser and one of my friends was bought at 125$ to go on a date with one of her friend :o I also did coat check and raised money by guiltripping people who were either drunk or going to get drunk to give money for cancer and I got smiles and money from them, so yay me!
Otherwise, nothing else, but I'm happy!

Hey, Me too... well after the fixed the hot water so I could take a shower, then he just "accidentally" wound up naked in the shower too....
Hmmm... I told him it was all a plot.
He also brought me one red rose, and card that plays "Wild Thing" when you open it and a cute little frog couple sharing a pot of tea. Now remember, we've been snowed in- he went to work both days in the horrible storm, but he remembered to stop off on the way home. What a sweetie!
He got lots of chocolate. He just loves it!
