Official Sign-Ups!

AlterEgoZoe has invited me to help her in hosting a new book box, for all us Horror fans out there! Standard bookbox rules will apply, except that we will do this book box every other month.
Starting date is set at March 13th.
Please donate 1-2 books to start off the box (you don't have to do it at the same time you sign up; we've got a month before this starts to give you plenty of time to read some books to put in the box!)

Post in this thread to sign up, and post links/details of book(s) you'll donate for the first round, and any questions you might have about the types of books, etc.

we won't skip anyone yet! :) We've still got a month till the start date for you to get something read. So no worries and no pressure; based on what we've had donated so far, and with the currently small number of participants, I think we'll have plenty of books, AM.

I've got 2 more horror books on my owed TBR's, well one was treated as paranormal cuz it's vamps. But in any case, at least until I finish the last one in the Sorority Trilogy by Tamara Thorne owed to Karen Dawn from October's series swap, I'm not ready to start reading any more.

So for right now, you can put me down for one TBR which may or may not be read in time for the start of the box. It's the following:

I chose this because it was planned as my next horror read after the other 2 I mentioned. :D

crap! I was gonna submit books last night but I had forgotten about getting a report done for work so didn't get time to get the book info gathered up. I'll do it as soon as possible though!!!!

I sent you a couple of links for books to add to the box. Can not wait for this one to start. Before discovering paranormal, horror was without question my favorite genre!

Yes. I am (patiently) waiting on 3 people to send books in. I liked the idea of starting on the "unlucky" 13th..:whip: BTW has anyone seen lizziwhiz lately? I've sent her a few PMs about this box and she hasn't responded...

I believe that she posted somewhere that things were a little hectic/crazy for her lately. Hopefully things are getting settled for her.

sorry to disappear, i went away for the long weekend and just got back. things are looking good for the box, plenty of books being donated for the start. i like the idea of starting on the 13th also.

I like the idea of the 13th too, I'm just excited about the vbb so sound impatient :P

It's great that Sand and others have so much to contribute to the box. I felt bad at first not having as much to contribute, but then again, I don't have nearly as many UBS and book sales around that Sand does. (Plus my SO who helps to reign in my spending on too many books :whip: :lol: )

I feel bad cause I don't have anything to contribute for the same reasons you don't have much to contribute. :blink:

I'd like to point out that nobody has to feel pressured to fill the box up with starting donations; I only put in two, we're only asking that you put in one. Some people seem to have an abundance of available books on their shelf, so they've donated quite a few, but no one has to feel obligated to do that! :hug: You have a few weeks yet before the start time, which is plenty of time to find one book to put in. We're (at this point) a small group, too, so the box doesn't have to be so full as for some other bookboxes. So cheesy and cherie--- :whip: stop worrying! :P

We have plenty of time to find, buy, trade, and read before the box starts! The requirement is only one book, but...you are welcomed to donate more if you would like and have the book-funds to do so! (I don't want everyone to be out of books after the first round!)

I've just counted the books so far at the moment, there are 29!

I can't remember is this going to be just horror or were "sick shit" type thrillers going to be included too?

I'd like to sign up regardless, but the answer is going to determine my starting donation.

i think that we had originally agreed that those were fine. worst case scenario, they don't get taken out and you have to replace them after a couple rounds...
anything that might find its way into the used bookstore's "horror" section will be fine, i expect. I think the only one to be careful on will be "paranormal"--these days vampires and werewolves are considered paranormal when traditionally they fell into the category of horror, so I think we just have to use our best judgement--maybe based on how heavy/light the atmosphere of the book is? hard to say. anyway, i'll repeat myself, the worse that happens is we have to replace a book that doesn't get selected. no big!
