This is my first time hosting a swap as this one's been run by Apolonia in past months, so be gentle with me.

I had an idea.... user posted image

I like using the BSL gameplay engine simply because it's much easier to do the updates and all, esp with the fact that we no longer have the full text editor.

But what do you think if rather than pointing the game to the forum there, I point it to a thread here? That way we use this forum, but the BSL game board? Do you think there'd be more chatting and stuff going on, and others that don't necessarily play over at BSL would still look in?

chambejd - February 15, 2007 08:00 PM (GMT)
That sounds good to me Cherie!

CheriePie - February 25, 2007 06:03 PM (GMT)
w00t w00t! :bananadance: We've got 17 players so me thinks there'll be a whole lotta stealing going on! :pirate:

I'll start up the game later this afternoon/early evening so Ap, if you're around, feel free to start us off early. Though official time-keeping won't start until Monday the 26th.

And I've sent off messages to those who haven't entered their books yet. :whip:

catsalive - February 26, 2007 12:05 AM (GMT)

CheriePie - February 26, 2007 01:57 AM (GMT)
Ap, I got your message the other day and replied. But there was another message I sent you a few days before that I don't think you got either. About Grave Sight...

You're not the first person on yahoo who's had trouble receiving messages from me. Make sure my email addy is in your address book as it likes to flag me as spam I think otherwise.

Let me know if my last 2... 3 now, messages to you aren't in your spam folder, and I'll figure out a different way to get them to you.

chambejd - February 26, 2007 03:31 AM (GMT)
Glad to see that we've started. I'm heading to bed, but will check-in in the morning

Okay I just re-forwarded one of the messages to you. I'm in your address book, right? Cuz if so, it shouldn't flag me as spam. But I was having the same problem with midwinter just last week... she wasn't getting email from me on her yahoo account, but then when she wrote to me via gmail and I replied there, she received it fine. So me thinks Yahoo! doesn't like me for some reason.

So lemme know if you got the latest...

I'm not sure...I was supposed to go to St Louis on the 12th but that trip got cancelled. Right now my next trip is 26 March to Austin. After that I've got a trip in April and probably a trip to India in May.

apolonia - February 26, 2007 02:28 PM (GMT)
Hi everyone, I just made my move and pm'ed the next in line. Cherie still nothing, I took a quick look in my junk folder and didn't see anything. Maybe try sending me a message through here.

xallroyx - February 26, 2007 02:59 PM (GMT)
I'm near the end too, but then we get to see a lot of great books that will hopefully still be left for us!

nan1970 - February 26, 2007 05:49 PM (GMT)
Checking in.

Wow - there are some great reveals so far!! I can't wait to se what I wind up with. :D

redhot-brat - February 26, 2007 06:08 PM (GMT)
Just checking in to see whee things are on everything here . I was out late lastnight, so didn't get a chance to get on much.

I just checked and there are still a couple people ahead of me. I need to run a couple errands , but will be back soon. I'll try not to hold things up to long.

cathepsut - February 26, 2007 08:46 PM (GMT)
Wehee, I finally managed to post here, thanks Cherie! :P
I am happy with the book I revealed, it's actually on my wishlist. Fat chance I'm gonna keep it though....
Anyway, off to bed, might check back in about 8 hours or so....

Checking in...

I'm glad cathepsut took her turn before I checked in or I was gonna have to user posted image her. :D And who wants to do that on a person's first swap, huh?
:joke: because we started early, I really wouldn't have done that...

So ummm... again we wait cuz catsalive is sleepy time  She's in Aussie and I guess that's what they're all doing over there right now.

I guess I can see why many people now prefer doing the swap completely over here now instead. So we can leave moves to be made in our absence... which was another big complaint about using BSL.

I don't understand. You mean as in other making a move FOR you?

I guess I have to look around here and see how swaps work, if things are happening here more than over at BSL...

Sweet dreams Cath! And I'm sorry for the delay in making you want to get in here. Sand and I are verifying all new registrations by hand right now to keep out spammers who would otherwise overrun our board! :whip:

And yeah, Bite Me If You Can (a 2nd copy I received, not the one Nou RABCK'ed me  ) is on a few other wishlists here too, which is why I offered it. So you're right in that you may not wind up with it, but that's what swapping is all about. The stealing is half the fun, more than half even? :pirate: Right girls? mwahahahahaha  :shedevil:

Yup, that's exactly what I mean. As you look around here, look at people's signatures (assuming you have them turned on), and you'll see stuff like: My reveal left with, my moves for such and such swap, etc. Since there's a non-genre and a YBS going on here right now too, there should be a number of people with such things. And peek on over in those threads, also in this Swaps sub-forum, to get an idea how they work. Same thing, they're all just done manually.

Oh, and in the signatures thing, if you want to hide your moves until they're actually needed, you just put the text in white, so that it can only be seen when you drag your cursor over it. :)

Back to cathepsut. Stealing is fun, isn't it? If only I'd known being a thief could be so much fun.

I have sent a msg.

CheriePie - February 26, 2007 09:17 PM (GMT)
hehe and I'd just warned her she wouldn't stay with that book for long. :pirate:

cathepsut - February 26, 2007 09:17 PM (GMT)
Good that I didn't go to bed straight away, when I said I would! Someone just stole that book off of me, hmpf! :whip:
I pm'd Aileen..... and definitely going to bed now...

Hi everyone
Just checking in, I'll be around for awhile, then I'll be at school for a few hours. Will probably be back around 10pm est.

CheriePie - February 26, 2007 11:32 PM (GMT)
Ap, I just sent you a PM through here with the text of the last few email messages I've sent your way. I'm doing some testing between my gmail and yahoo accounts trying to figure out what's going on myself. The first time, the message from gmail went right into my spam folder. This was before adding the gmail addy to my yahoo address book. The 2nd one, after adding the addy, still not received at yahoo yet 1/2 hr later. hmmm...

ETA - Okay I found this on the web re Yahoo problems:
http://www.ahfx.net/weblog.php?article=107

And I also found that when I replied to a message sent from my own yahoo account, and left in the quoted text, the message was received at yahoo from my gmail account just fine. Next time, I removed the quoted text and that reply went off into never-never land.

I've also seen a huge increase in the number of messages marked as spam on our Club VLAD yahoo group. Already today, I've had to go in and "release" 5 messages that yahoo marked as possible spam even though some were sent by members who've been part of the group for a very long time. So it would seem to me that Yahoo is getting waaaay to aggressive in their spam blocking techniques and is blocking many legitimate messages in the process. :whip: :angry2:

Hello everyone!! Good morning (at least it is morning to me)!

Cherie: regarding leaving moves. It can still be done on BSL, the person just needs to leave their login with someone who they trust to make their moves for them. I do it all the time. As a matter of fact, Sand played more for me than I played in the last 2 swaps because my turn came up while I was spending 24 hours on an airplane. We just need to encourage it or tell people that they will be bumped if they can't meet the time requirements. Personally, I like playing. When I play in non-BSL swaps I do not leave my moves in my signature but I make sure that I can play.

So I was getting my massage last night. I've really become addicted to getting them in my hotel room late at night so I don't have to get dressed again and can just crawl into bed after my massage. Anyway, there are stacks of books in my hotel room and the masseuse said something about my liking to read. She said she liked to read as well...romance novels. Imagine!! So I gave her 4 books to take with her! Now if I could only remember what they were so I could mark them as traveling. :( Oh well, hopefully she will see the stickers and register them. Since I was still naked, I didn't take the time to explain Bookcrossing to her. Maybe Wednesday I'll request her for my next massage. I've been really good...I've only gotten massages every other day. Don't want to be too decadent. Besides, I don't want to become addicted...I can't afford every day massages in the US.

chambejd - February 27, 2007 02:20 AM (GMT)
A somewhat off-topic question...

Do you have to be a BC member to join BSL??

Oh yeah... I forgot about that. I have given shaunie my BSL login to make moves on my behalf there before too. But since it's only one other person, and if they're not playing in the swap you're in... *shrug* I kinda forgot about it.
