Title: Can you believe...

nursiegirl42 - February 6, 2007 09:11 PM (GMT)
The high today was supposed to be 46 here today..

It's 66 degrees here right now!! Wooohoooo!

caseyw - February 6, 2007 09:16 PM (GMT)
That's what I'm showing our temp is too. My office feels like it's in the 90's though.

CdnBlueRose - February 6, 2007 09:17 PM (GMT)
64 here - the snow is melting like crazy! :D

nimrodiel - February 6, 2007 09:20 PM (GMT)
It's snowing here.

But that's good cause it means it's warmed up over zero degrees again (we've been in the negatives all weekend before windchill got added in)

TITurtle1 - February 6, 2007 09:33 PM (GMT)
21 (and its the high for today) here... :(

PepperVL - February 6, 2007 09:40 PM (GMT)
It's currently 16 degrees F and snowing like crazy... to the point that they closed my company early and though I left an hour and a half before my normal time, I only got home a half-hour early.

I'd like 66 please.

Three - February 6, 2007 10:57 PM (GMT)
I'd take that too. Today is the first day in a while that we have been above 0 F. The schools have been closed the last 2 days due to the extreme cold. I woke up Monday morning to -27 F - yeow.

appaloosatb - February 6, 2007 11:09 PM (GMT)
It was below zero today with the windchill, and even with three layers on I was freezing!

Everyone from the ALS the other night will be happy to know that I didn't use my foot to loosen up the frozen dog shit today.

Our schools closed monday too. They let the kids stay home if the WC is -11 or worse.

WestofMars - February 6, 2007 11:30 PM (GMT)
Our high today was 10.

Both kids off from school for two days now.

I escaped last night to a meeting and this morning to the gym.

I'm going nuts regardless.

Kyrissaean - February 7, 2007 12:40 AM (GMT)
The schools here (NH) have never closed for cold weather. I suppose they might if there was something wrong with the heating system, but otherwise they just keep the little kids inside for recess if necessary. A few times they've had to delay the start time because the school buses wouldn't start for cold...

Come to think of it, that's pretty much the deciding factor in school closing here -- if the buses can run, they will! So pretty much ice storms are the only things that do it.

Our heating oil tank is going to have to be filled twice in the month of Feb though, 'cos it's been so super cold. It costs about $500 each time now. :o :o :o And that's with a new super-efficient furnace!!!

AceofHearts - February 7, 2007 01:05 AM (GMT)
The schools don't close here for the cold but they do keep the kids in at recess. They close when the buses and teachers can't get to the school

Tribefan - February 7, 2007 01:05 AM (GMT)
It was -4 when I woke up at 6am this morning with a wind chill of -20. All schools in my area (over 600) were closed! BBBBBRRRRRRR!!!!

Yeah, that's pretty much the deciding factor in my town too. There are a lot of steep hills, and a few of the schools are atop those hills, so if it's very snowy or icy and the buses cant get up the hills, they'll close the schools. Never had school closed for the cold though....but then again this is the coldest it's been in quite a while.

EllyMae58 - February 7, 2007 02:08 AM (GMT)
It was 91 degrees at my place yesterday. Cooler today, but beautiful!

JessicaEby - February 7, 2007 02:32 AM (GMT)
I don't speak Fahrenheit :( Here it was -18C today..... sooo.... I am now converting... apparently it was 0F before windchill.

I Googled for a converter, and it says that 91 degrees Fahrenheit is about 32 degrees celsius.

I use that converter all the time, so much so that I have it in my Firefox Bookmarks Toolbar, because it has everything! not just temp... so everyone should bookmark it. :D

OMG, 32?! I'm always dying of heat if it's above 25 max.... we get up to the 30s in summers and I haaaaaaaaaaate it!

I think it is the concern for the students standing on the bus stop. I guess they have figured out down to the degree LOL -11 F how long it takes for damage to exposed skin.

Yep... it just missed us... well the bulk of it anyway, we got a dusting of snow, some ice, but we still have freezing temperatures!!! Currently it is 15 degrees, but the windchill makes it feel like 3!

cheesygiraffe - February 7, 2007 01:25 PM (GMT)
It was nearly 60 F yesterday. :P Very nice for this time of year. Which according to google is 15 C. It's suppose to be in the 50s today before it starts getting colder again.

caseyw - February 7, 2007 02:24 PM (GMT)
See if I trust Yahoo weather for my area ever again. When I left work yesterday, the temp was showing to be 63. We won't be so lucky today I'm afraid. Forcasting freezing rain for this evening and snow flurries tomorrow. :(

wss4 - February 7, 2007 02:42 PM (GMT)
We are supposed to hit 70 today. Sending some sunshine to all of you in the snow!

Ri - February 7, 2007 05:25 PM (GMT)
Thanks for the sunshine, wss4! We could use it! It is freezing here and we are under several inches of snow! Our pipes came very close to freezing in the new house, so we were down in the cold cold basement with heating pads, hair dryers and a portable heater trying to keep them from bursting! We do have a leak in our water meter, though, so the water works folks are coming out today to take a look (and hopefully stop the leak)!

Amazing that just a few states away and a couple hundred miles could have such drastically different weather!!

intrycksflikka - February 7, 2007 10:51 PM (GMT)
-4 F right now in the southern parts of Finland. Heard that it have been down to -22 F in the northern and more central parts of Finland...

Eek! My mom is on a plane right now on her way to Finland (Kokkola I think?). She is taking a school group on an exchange. I hope she packed warm clothes!! BRRRRRRRR

ladyjanet - February 7, 2007 11:10 PM (GMT)
They closed school here yesterday at noon for snow. We got about 3-4 inches. Pipes froze (put on a new heat tape) and now DH has found that the pipe didn't break but it did come loose at the connection from the street, so we are waiting for a plumber to come and fix it. :(

We are taking "camping baths" and flushing with melted snow. I feel like I'm back in the 1800's or something. I need to do laundry too, so I might have to do something desperate and go to the laundromat. (or wear stinky jeans.... )

I don't mind the cold, just the lack of water.....
