Title: Help from someone in or near England?
SandDanz - February 5, 2007 02:50 PM (GMT)
Have a request for info and possibly more from someone(s) in the England area. LB was telling me yesterday how he collects textbooks and something in particular he would like to have is an Elementary History textbook from England that covers the Revolutionary War time frame. Here it is usually taught in the 5th grade, but he doesn't know if it'd be the same there or not. So... what we're looking for is...
1. What grade level book(s) should he be looking for?
2. Who publishes the book(s) like this?
3. Is it possible that somebody has access to a book like this that we could buy and pay the shipping for?
We appreciate the help!

Sand - what age is 5th grade in the US? That would help give me some idea of what you're looking for and where to find it!

Hmm, so that would be Yr 6 over here - my eldest daughter's year. Don't think they've done the Revolution yet! Let me have a think and see what I can come up with.

Thanks Camis! :) We didn't know if it'd be taught the same year there or not.

My oldest is in 5th grade. They are 10-11 year olds. My son is still 10 but he is one of the younger ones in his class. Here you have to be 5 by Sept. 1st to start Kindergarten and his birthday is at the end of July. :)

I'm not in or near England, and I can't help with this.... but if he's ever looking for any Canadian ones, give me a shout... I see them at UBS and thrift shops all the time....

I'm struggling to come up with anything at the minute! In terms of level, you would need to be looking for Key Stage 2 or 3 books (KS2 is up to the end of junior school - age 11 - and KS3 is the start of high school)
I'll try and remember to ask my daughter's teacher tomorrow if he has any idea..
SandDanz - February 5, 2007 09:42 PM (GMT)
Jessica - I'll see if he's interested in any from Canada
Camis - I really appreciate you looking into this. I'll tell him about the Key Stage levels. :)
