Description: Early Bird Registration

AceofHearts - January 7, 2006 10:51 PM (GMT)
Thought I should give you a heads up. Registration is due Jan 25 if you are staying at The Courtyard

http://www.nabxc.com/index.shtml

For those of us in the city we have to pay more for the priviledge of attending

SandDanz - January 7, 2006 10:57 PM (GMT)
I'm not going to get to go!!!

I didn't realize how expensive the hotel was going to be. :(

Antheras - January 7, 2006 11:00 PM (GMT)
I'm sending mine in! Glad something is posted now.

Were you going to come with Mr. Sandman or by yourself?

Don't forget the prices are in Canadian dollars...

SandDanz - January 7, 2006 11:22 PM (GMT)
I think the SandMan was going to come... or at least he was wanting to. I wouldn't feel comfortable driving 9 hours on my own both ways. (I could make sure he behaved if he came though!) ;)

and... it was $112 a night in USD :(

SandDanz - January 7, 2006 11:29 PM (GMT)
LMAO!!!!! The SandMan said he could sleep in the car... he'd just pack some extra blankets... it would be pretty warm by then. :) So... let me know if you have a suggestion Antheras!

Antheras - January 7, 2006 11:36 PM (GMT)
I was going to suggest we could share a room but I wouldn't feel right having him sleep in the car! I've only reserved for Friday and Saturday night.

The rate is $129 Canadian per night which is $110 US. I always forget that our dollar is doing okay right now.

Oh... yeah... I didn't realize you were far enough away that you needed to stay in the hotel as well. :P But even half for like 3 nights would be close to $200 plus the workshop fee of $100 and I just don't have $300 right now. :( IF I happen to get my settlement check in time, THAT might work. Are you going to get a room whether you find a roommate or not?

cheesygiraffe - January 7, 2006 11:40 PM (GMT)
Dang that's one expensive hotel. :o
I wasn't going anyway...

that's what I thought. :(

Antheras - January 7, 2006 11:45 PM (GMT)
All hotels in downtown Toronto are about that rate. I am going no matter what so if you decide closer to the time that you want to come, I'm sure one of us will be able to squeeze you in.

I could drive back and forth but as thinking that it would be fun to stay there with everyone. The other thing I might do is cancel the room and stay with a friend who lives downtown.

Sounds good... if I get my settlement check, I'm definitely going to attempt to come again! I just don't know how soon that's going to happen. We're in the process of settling on an amount now, but my lawyer wants me to see a back specialist for a 2nd opinion before we do any further negotiations.

Ixion - January 8, 2006 12:48 AM (GMT)
When I made a reservation, I purposely made it for a two bed room. I figured someone would forget to order a room and want to go at the last minute.

Wanna split it 3 ways? I figure it'd be alot cheaper for all of us that way. :P

AceofHearts - January 8, 2006 01:08 AM (GMT)
I have to spend $26 extra and parking and gas. UMMM wonder if Lauren and I should get a room

Hey, wait a second, you can' t bitch! I still haven't figured out how I'm GETTING to Toronto, which I'm sure alone will cost alot more than any incidentals or extra fees you get to pay. :whip:

Yeah... I'm also kind of scared of gas rates! :( We're back up to over $2.30/gallon here. I'd be driving 9 hours both ways to Toronto if I do go (btw, I wouldn't mind rooming in a group of 3 if it were to work out) and that might get VERY expensive.

morsecode - January 8, 2006 03:16 AM (GMT)
I'm not going to be able to go
I'll be in Baltimore at a professional conference
I am so so so so sad because I was so excited about it.
(I'm actually glad for the reminded because I need to cancel my hotel room)

Luckily for me though... I will get to do a little bookcrossing that weekend because one of our friends will be at the conference too so we'll plan a mini-meetup

SandDanz - January 8, 2006 03:19 AM (GMT)
I'm happy that I'll at least get to meet another new bookcrosser this year even if I don't get to the convention... Alsgal is coming to Louisville this year... and I might even get to meet Shaunie next summer if all works out!!! :bananadance:

I hope I get to meet you one day Sand. :(
I want to meet the lot of ya!
Hopefully this summer when I go to Kansas City to visit the family I get to meet Shaunie and BP maybe even Terrafreaky if she'll come out of hiding. ;)

well... if you'd ever detour through this way... it's not like we live THAT far away from each other.

We still need to talk more about that Midwest meet-up that was mentioned months ago.

noumena12 - January 9, 2006 03:36 AM (GMT)
Thanks for posting this! I've already got my room reservation and I'll send off my conference registration tomorrow!!!

Noumena11 will be with me!

noumena12 - January 9, 2006 04:35 PM (GMT)
I just faxed my registration form!!! Woo Hoo!! I'm so excited.

Could we form a bookrelayers team for the Reverse Scavenger Hunt? I'm so excited about that!! I think it will be so much more fun that just releasing books around town! I'll have my digital camera with me...and if I'm lucky...my NEW digital camera.

AceofHearts - January 9, 2006 07:48 PM (GMT)
I'll be there and so will Lauren and I believe Antheras and Ri and probably Jebbie
