Because Your Vampire Said So (Broken Heart, Oklahoma #3)
- Michelle Bardsley (TBR)

When you're immortal, being a mom won't kill you - it will only make you stronger

Even though all the non-vamps in Broken Heart, Oklahoma, skipped town, Patsy Donahue has kept her hair salon up and running thanks to the werewolves prowling around. They know how important good grooming is, especially a certain rogue shapeshifter who's as sexy as he is deadly. Now, if only she could put a leash on her wild teenage son, who's up to his neck in danger. The stress would kill Patsy, if she wasn't already undead. But her maternal instinct is still alive and kicking. And no one had better mess with her own flesh and blood.

My Review

Book Description

Tess Corday is an Occult Special Investigator for CORE (Central Occult Regulation Enterprise). Pulled out of bed at two in the morning to look at a dead vampire she would be happy if she could just go back to bed. What she doesn't know is that even though this case looks routine it will become complicated, bloody and maybe more than she can handle.

Coyote Dreams (Book 3 - Walker Paper Series) by CE Murphy
http://bookcrossing.com/journal/6322248

Much of the city can't wake up. And more are dozing off each day.

Instead of powerful forces storming Seattle, a more insidious invasion is happening. Most of Joanne Walker's fellow cops are down with the blue flu -- or rather the blue sleep. Yet there's no physical cause anyone can point to -- and it keeps spreading.

It has to be magical, Joanne figures. But what's up with the crazy dreams that hit her every time she closes her eyes? Are they being sent by Coyote, her still-missing spirit guide? The messages just aren't clear.

Somehow Joanne has to wake up her sleeping friends while protecting those still awake, figure out her inner-spirit dream life and, yeah, come to terms with these other dreams she's having about her boss...

Haunted by Kelley Armstrong

Former supernatural superpower Eve Levine has broken all the rules. But she's never broken a promise -- not even during the three years she's spent in the afterworld. So when the Fates call in a debt she gave her word she'd pay, she has no choice but to comply.
For centuries one of the ghost world's wickedest creatures has been loosed on humanity, thwarting every attempt to retrieve her. Now it has fallen to Eve to capture this demi-demon known as the Nix, who inhabits the bodies of would-be killers, compelling them to complete their deadly acts. It's a mission that becomes all too personal when the Nix targets those Eve loves most -- including Savannah, the daughter she left on Earth. But can a renegade witch succeed where a host of angels have failed?

While this is book 5 in the "women of the otherworld" series, the story itself doesn't require prior knowledge of the series.

Their love was eternal. Until forbidden magic threatened to tear them apart forever. A hardheaded scientist, he refuses to believe the woman's fantastic tale of magical spells, eternal love and reincarnation. Released after being imprisoned for three hundred years in the witch ball, Miranda Hawthorne is reunited with the man she is destined to be with throughout time. Her joy is short-lived when she discovers that Nathaniel no longer remembers her or their love. How can she convince him to help her to break the witch ball's lingering spell before the bond between them is severed for all eternity? And in the house next door the priestess responsible for the witch ball's spell plots to prevent them from discovering the secret that will set Miranda completely free.

Midnight Magic by Rebecca York, Susan Kearny and Jeanie London

A magical painting, a mystical gateway…

Legend has it that a heartbroken artist used magical paint to create the beautiful “Midnight Magic”--and then stepped into the painting and was never seen again. Or so Sara Drimmon is told when she visits the Second Chance Gallery in Rebecca York's "Second Chance." Sara experiences the magic for herself when the painting sends her into her own past and gives her a second chance with her first love.

Then it's Sara's turn to introduce someone to the painting--and she chooses Merline, a beautiful singer who's lost her voice. In Susan Kearney's "Ulterior Motives," the painting sends Merline thousands of years into the future, where she is no longer a superstar. Is Merline ready to trade stardom for love?

In Jeanie London's "Temptation," an artist urges Nina de Lacy to look deeply into the painting. But Nina has her own magical way of seeing into the souls of men--and now she must choose between the destiny “Midnight Magic” offers her and the two men who wait for her to tell them their future…

Though the first two stories are more science fiction, London’s story is a prequel to the book, Retrieval, which is a PUF.

Retrieval by Jeanie London

Nina is dead and must make amends.

In life she refused to use her unique ability to see whether a soul ascends to Heaven or descends into Hell. Now, as a guide through the Passage between the living and the dead, she steers departing souls to Purgatory. But peace is hard to come by, even in the afterlife. Good and evil are fighting for control over the Passage--and Nina is determined not to let Hell take over.

Roman breaks the dead guy rules.

With his devilish charm and angelic looks, the newly-dead Roman can rally souls to fight—but on which side? His new Soul Retrieval Unit sounds like a good idea, but even in death, temptation lures Nina farther from salvation . . . or is she choosing Heaven by placing her soul in her lover’s care?

Staying Dead
by Laura Anne Gilman

Manhattan's night life just got weirder...

It starts as a simple job -- but simple jobs, when you're dealing with the magical world, often end up anything but.

As a Retriever, Wren Valere specializes in finding things gone missing -- and then bringing them back, no questions asked. Normally her job is stimulating, challenging and only a little bit dangerous. But every once in a while...

Case in point: A cornerstone containing a spell is stolen and there's a magical complication. (Isn't there always?) Wren's unique abilities aren't enough to lay this particular case to rest, so she turns to some friends: a demon (minor), a mage who has lost his mind, and a few others, including Sergei, her business partner (and maybe a bit more?).

Sometimes what a woman has to do to get the job done is enough to give even Wren nightmares...
