Title: I have a nephew!
Description: New family member! Whee!

zzz - July 13, 2008 12:49 PM (GMT)
Some of you know that we are expecting new baby in the family. Well he has arrived 8th July :) (Thanks to all who posted on my blog or sent me an email)
Last night they came out of hospital and so far he’s good (meaning parents are able to sleep). Still don’t have pictures! I don’t know why you have to beg and remind and than yell to finally get some. Hopefully I’ll have some soon.
Anyhow his name is Vuk but I already wrote about everything on my blog so if you’re interested link is in my signature

AceofHearts - July 13, 2008 01:00 PM (GMT)

Congratulations Joanna! I'm not sure about Vuk's weight  (I wrote about that on my blog, why is that so important anyway?)
Oh and Vuk means Wolf in Serbian (but it's also a name of course). I wrote about that on my blog as well

Thank you everyone!

I was thinking the exact same thing as I was being introduced to my friends' new baby (also a boy!) earlier this week. :giggle:

 yes but you must be very careful when you'll say such a thing.
Once my neighbor asked me "You don't like kids, don't you?" I was in shock and when I asked him what makes him think that way he said how his little daughter was looking at me several minutes and I didn't even noticed

Congratulations to Uncle ZZZ & Auntie Jo :bananadance:

Congrats to the newest uncle (and aunt) in the forum!

zzz - July 16, 2008 08:20 AM (GMT)
Thank you all
I can't believe they have another good baby: kid is eating, shitting, sleeping. Indeed it's usually what babies are doing, but he doesn't cry at all; after eating comes 3 hours of sleeping then eating again, etc. During the night he's awake only once.
It's the same case with my niece (she was fantastic baby) and I was convinced this one will be opposite. Not at all :)
(I know I wouldn't be that lucky :erm:)

Marlene - July 17, 2008 10:40 AM (GMT)
I love that name.
OMG It is so awesome.
Is this a name used a lot in Serbia?

and why do all babies not cry except my own.
No I am kidding. She had all reasons to cry.

Rowena was a cry baby. Her first month she was in the .. care in hospital. how do you call that again? Very hygienic place. You have to wear stuff in front of your mouth?

Geez I cannot think of any English words. To be honest right now I do not even know the word in bloody Dutch.

Then she came home and the crying started. She was born on May 1 and I know exactly when the last day of crying was. July1 . My brother's birthday. Then it stopped.

Congratulations. :bananadance:
I hope I will find a picture of this little wolfie on your blog.

zzz - July 18, 2008 11:00 AM (GMT)
I'm sure Ro had all reasons to cry

Yep it's the same here with maternity home; actually it's even worse: you don't have to wear anything special but that's because you can't reach neither baby nor mother. There is a huge glass wall and phones for communication (exactly the same as in prisons) and you can see baby in a big screen while the baby itself is in a sterile room with camera.

And yep, the name is common in Serbia, not very frequent but "normal" name. The most famous Vuk in our history is the one who reformatted Serbian alphabet and grammar. He's on 10 dinars bill:

Oh! what beautiful money........ Why do you guys have a handsome man on your money and we all have old grandpas and grandmothers on ours? :o  :whip:

Lol I think Rowena gave up after the second month of crying. She knew she could not escape.

But Milan do you guys put all the babies in there? In the maternity room.

Why can't I recall the name for it here.
ah couveuse which is Incubator!!! I finally know the word!!! :bananadance:

Oh indeed he was nice looking guy; one Serbian language and literature teacher was talking about him "The fact that he lost one leg wasn't an obstacle to be a great lover!" Don't know where she found that information but hey, she's a teacher.
He had many children that's true but only one reached maturity age (he wrote how his greatest fear is that his work, all books he wrote and systematization of the language will be his only child)

This is another banknote (not valid anymore) with him in different age:

In't maternity hose a place where ALL (or at least majority) babies should be delivered? It's part of hospital where pregnant women are ending their pregnancy and leaving it with baby(ies). The difference is that this part of the hospital is new and it has different policy where every contact between outside world (or at least visitors) and baby/mother is not possible. Especially with the baby.

And yes, there are also incubators (I've been there for quite some time) but those are mainly for premature deliveries (I've been born in 7th month of pregnancy).
