HoserLauren - June 13, 2008 01:23 AM (GMT)
I can't decide which book to offer. I'm caught between 2 of them!

Marlene - June 13, 2008 05:23 AM (GMT)
aargh I will have to go soon but I will go find a book later.

Jordanne - June 13, 2008 06:38 AM (GMT)

bluecat07 - June 13, 2008 07:58 AM (GMT)
Good morning  Wow, I'm second!

candy-is-dandy - June 13, 2008 08:37 AM (GMT)
Hello - now to decide which book to offer up!!

Jordanne - June 13, 2008 08:42 AM (GMT)
I sent out my reveal but I can't seem to get a picture into a pm. So there isn't any in it...

how come wijfie?
If you need any help let me know. :)

aargh I am planning to go lie down for an hour or 2.

Which book to offer. It is hard. I try to decide now.

I am happy with where I am in the order. a bit at the bottom but that is not so bad. Before I always hated it but now I see the benefits of it. Except when all the books are already out of the game before it is your turn, then it sucks.
But a lot of time I see people have just one move when they are at the end and take out a book which is on 4 steals.

off to BC. Lol why do I go and visit Bookcrossing instead of looking at my shelves?

bluecat07 - June 13, 2008 09:22 AM (GMT)
Hey Marlene, how was the talk with Rowena's teacher? I hope they found a good solution for her!

Jordanne - June 13, 2008 09:29 AM (GMT)
Don't know what I did wrong before, but it worked now. So I sent out my reveal again, to the same people.

You can delete the first one! (still no peeking since it's the same book!) :nono:

Marlene - June 13, 2008 11:33 AM (GMT)
I am going to pm Ri to remind her of this swap. :)

eta: Oops It is very early still where she is at. I am confused because I woke up much earlier than is normal for me.

It feels like it is 16.30 but it is only 13.36

morsecode - June 13, 2008 12:44 PM (GMT)
Morning, everyone! :coffee:

Happy swapping!

AceofHearts - June 13, 2008 12:51 PM (GMT)
Good Morning :coffee:

HoserLauren - June 13, 2008 01:19 PM (GMT)
Good morning! Another busy day ahead of me so I'm not sure how much I'll be around.

msjoanna - June 13, 2008 01:43 PM (GMT)
Lauren's randomizer hates me! :whip:

I'll be back next week to take my turn.

That's weird. I have not received one reveal for this swap. :o

Poor Joanna.
Just came back from town. Bloody bank. they could not get into there system. yes they did find my pass but it is blocked. Because there system is down I could not even get cash, which meant no money at all, if not for a friend who lend me some.

Ridiculous.

I do not think this is my day as well.
Well I have done all obligations so I can relax now. (match Netherlands France is tonight) I am scared. :hide:

bluecat07 - June 13, 2008 02:32 PM (GMT)
Well, the Dutch can't play worse than the German team last night!

Sounds like a bad day, Marlene, but at least Rowena can retake one exam!

morsie's non-genre reveal:

On a Day Like This by Peter Stamm

user posted image

On a day like any other, Andreas changes his life. When a routine doctor’s visit leads to an unexpected prognosis, a great yearning takes hold of him–but who can tell if it is homesickness or wanderlust; a deathwish or a fresh lease on life? Andreas leaves everything behind–sells his Paris apartment, cuts off all social ties, quits his teaching job, and waves good-bye to his days spent idly sitting in cafés–to look for a woman he loved half a lifetime ago. The monotony of days had been keeping him in check; now he hopes for a miracle and for a new beginning.

Andreas’s travels lead him back to the province of his youth, back to his hometown in Switzerland where he returns to familiar streets, where his brother still lives in their childhood home, and where Fabienne, a woman he was obsessed with in his youth, continues to visit the same lake they once swam in together. Andreas, consumed with longing for his lost love and blinded by the uncertainty of his future, is tormented by the question of what might have been if things had happened differently.

Peter Stamm has been praised as a “stylistic ascetic” and his prose as “distinguished by lapidary expression, telegraphic terseness, and finely tuned sensitivity” (Bookforum). In On a Day Like This, Stamm’s unobtrusive observational style allows us to journey with our antihero through his crises of banality, of living in his empty world, to the realization that life is finite–that one must live it, as long as that is possible.

They were bad, I agree.
I'm excited and nervous for tonight too.

bluecat07 - June 13, 2008 03:49 PM (GMT)
I'd like to see what Jordanne's got, please. :D

Marlene - June 13, 2008 03:53 PM (GMT)
Thanks Lizzie.

I am exited but also very nervous too Jordanne.

I really hope it wont be what happened to Germany. One day they are all that , next day they are very bad. :erm:

I do not think they will be very bad but it is also about luck. If France manages to make 2 goals very quickly it will be much harder. Then they should take an example of the Germans (how they normally play) they don't give up.

O the first match is gonna start soon. Let's see what is best for The Netherlands?
it is Italy versus Romania?

Icy Sparks

In the tradition of To Kill a Mockingbird and The Cape Ann, a funny, sad, wise, and redeeming first novel about a young girl's battle with a troubling affliction. Rural Kentucky in the 1950s is not an easy place to grow up in, and it's especially hard for 10-year-old Icy Sparks, an orphan who lives with her grandparents. Life becomes even more difficult for Icy when the violent tics and uncontrollable cursing begin. Icy's adolescence is marred by the humiliation brought on by her mysterious condition, and its all-too-visible symptoms are the source of endless hilarity as everyone around her offers an opinion about what's troubling the girl. Eventually, Icy finds solace in the company of an obese woman who knows what it's like to be an outcast in this tightly knit Appalachian community. Narrated by a now-grown Icy, this first novel shimmers with warmth and humor as it recounts a young girl's painful and poignant journey to womanhood--and the many lives she touches and enriches along the way.

Note: one of Oprah's bookclub books, from the beginning. I loved it!

Yes. true. If we win we will go trhough no matter what the next match.

Now it is:
Groep C

Netherlands 3
Romania 1
France 1
Italy 0

so if they would have a draw that would be best indeed.
Italy only 1 point Romania would ahve 2 that would keep us above them even if we lose which god forbid.
touch wood. :giggle:

I use my recorder with hard disk so I can do something and then go back and watch.
