Title: SF/F VBB - Please read and vote!
Description: Book Mialing Limits
PepperVL - June 4, 2008 03:25 AM (GMT)
With the new rules on the board going into effect, almost everything has a six month mailing limit. Our mailing limit is currently (and has been since we instituted one) eight months (four rounds).
Would it be easier for you to remember if we had a six month (three round) rule instead of an eight month (four round) rule?
Please vote your personal preference. I've talked to mods about this, and they're okay with us staying 8 months as an every other round box. We're not being told we need to change. I'm just wondering if people would rather we change to remain more consistent with the other things on the board.
Only vote if you participate in or are planning on participating in the Science Fiction and Fantasy VBB, please.

Here's a question, if for instance you have books that you owe from here, that are more than six months, but less than 8, are you still unable to play in other boxes and swaps, if everything else is within time? Just curious.
I'm fine either way, I'm getting close to the limit on set of books, which is what made me think of it, but not arguing one way or another.

As I understand it, since the current limit in this box is 8 months, as long as your books are sent within 8 months (on time for this box), you are not prohibited from playing elsewhere. Your books are still on time. :D

I voted to change it to six months because it would match the six month restrictions across the forum. However, I don't mind either way, six or eight months. I guess I should have gone for the third option? :giggle:

Next poll I'll put an option that says "I'm not in this box but I wanted to vote anyway." :giggle:

Okay, well, we got 14 votes and everyone either wants to switch or doesn't care.
So we'll switch.
Should we make it effective next round (July) or the one after (September)? I know that there are still several books that would need to be mailed before July if we switch... so if you want another round to get caught up...

I think it would be fairer to give people another round to catch up so make it effective from August.

Well, it would actually be September (I made a mistake above), but yeah, that's what I was thinking too. That way people who were used to and using the 8 months will have time to get caught up down to six months. :D

I agree, I have one more set of books that would put me in jeopardy, though I'm well within limits in other places, so I'd appreciate having a bit more time :D
