rootmartin - June 2, 2008 03:47 AM (GMT)
:D Thanks to hoserlauren for the snazzy layout that I "borrowed" from the non-fiction swap!

I'll be sending a PM to stellarv and sending out my own reveal.

See you in the morning!

My Gosh I am third?

Site is still slow . I just go do something else while waiting to post
Still have to decide which book to go with.
Which book do I really want to read?
Hmm the problem is, I do not owe TBR's so I read when i want to.

and I cry when i want to too. ^_^

Marlene - June 2, 2008 09:54 AM (GMT)

lol. well I think most people know when they are waiting for me , they should not expect me at 08.10. mostly not even at 09.10. :giggle:
I sleep late and long
long and late.
But Stella is not like me I reckon. :)

msjoanna - June 2, 2008 11:46 AM (GMT)
Good morning. I have jury duty today, so I won't likely be able to check in during the day....if only my laptop were working :shedevil:

Anyway, I'm actually hoping that I can get picked for a short trial because I'd really like to serve on a jury at least once. But they'll probably nix me because a lot of lawyers don't like lawyers on the jury.

I tried to send my reveal, but I can't tell for sure if it went through. The page hung in the "loading" phase after it was sent. I tried to send it to the folks in my sig, so if you didn't receive it, please no one ask for my reveal until I get back this evening. It'd be silly to hold up the game today for that.

x-post to the Afrikan swap as I must get going.

I have your reveal info

VeganMedusa - June 2, 2008 12:14 PM (GMT)
I got your reveal too, Msjoanna. And it seems that mine went through to people too. Annoying this problem with the site at the moment - it's like having dial-up again (we've only had broadband for a few weeks and we'll never go back! Never!)
Good night all, I hope to see some stealing when I come back in the morning. :D

Ri - June 2, 2008 12:15 PM (GMT)
:coffee:

GateGypsy - June 2, 2008 12:15 PM (GMT)
Warning -- I'm changing my reveal!! To all the people I sent it to, and who probably received it multiple times, please delete it. I'm leaving for work right now, but I will send out my new reveal around 2pm when I'm home and can check in. Sorry to be so last-minute (I thought I was so organised!)

Good morning all. Checking in. I'm sending my reveal out to Sunlightbub, Krin511, KathyB, and VeganMedusa. I think that covers three distinct time zones.

Before it falls again, I'd like to see msjoanna's reveal, please!

zzz - June 2, 2008 02:44 PM (GMT)
msjoanna's reveal:

The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield

user posted image

From Publishers Weekly
Former academic Setterfield pays tribute in her debut to Brontė and du Maurier heroines: a plain girl gets wrapped up in a dark, haunted ruin of a house, which guards family secrets that are not hers and that she must discover at her peril. Margaret Lea, a London bookseller's daughter, has written an obscure biography that suggests deep understanding of siblings. She is contacted by renowned aging author Vida Winter, who finally wishes to tell her own, long-hidden, life story. Margaret travels to Yorkshire, where she interviews the dying writer, walks the remains of her estate at Angelfield and tries to verify the old woman's tale of a governess, a ghost and more than one abandoned baby. With the aid of colorful Aurelius Love, Margaret puzzles out generations of Angelfield: destructive Uncle Charlie; his elusive sister, Isabelle; their unhappy parents; Isabelle's twin daughters, Adeline and Emmeline; and the children's caretakers. Contending with ghosts and with a (mostly) scary bunch of living people, Setterfield's sensible heroine is, like Jane Eyre, full of repressed feeling—and is unprepared for both heartache and romance. And like Jane, she's a real reader and makes a terrific narrator. That's where the comparisons end, but Setterfield, who lives in Yorkshire, offers graceful storytelling that has its own pleasures.

I hope not everyone has already read this one at this point. I've been looking at it every time I turn on my computer (it's been sitting on a pile near the desk) and longing to pick it up, but forcing myself to stick to my owed TBRs and books for exchange partners. Now I can happily dive in.
