The book appears to be divided into sections by year so will do one thread on each decade.

BEWARE - These threads will almost certainly contain spoilers - However I would request that if your comment refers to a later part of the book that you make this very clear - perhaps putting the comments in white, so only those who want to will read them :)

huh? I am already at a chapter which is called 1970 but I have only read about 78 pages. Is this correct?

ETA: never mind. I am wrong.

I can't sleep thanks to my neighbours. Mom is away and I don't know what they are doing but it is bloody noisy. Lying in bed and I hear the strangest sounds. I think it is there computer. they seem to be playing a game.
Damn it is 00.30 and I can't sleep thanks to them.

Only positive I have read a lot.
I've just started chapter 1977

Finished the book last night....I thought the 1970's section was interesting, particularly with the varioius relationships and how the secret affected everything. Don't want to say too much until others have read it!

Still reading in the 70s right now. It's just so strange how life just goes on. David (adding white color here) sending money to Caroline and Caroline keeping David in touch with his child Phoebe??? I would have just let it go and not let him know a damn thing about the child.

Plus Norah and her ways (white) Having an affair with Howard and being so careless about it. Why doesn't David or Paul confront her about that?

Just plain weird.

I agree with you on David. I could not understand it either.

About Norah (adding white color) I can understand why David doesn't confront her. Somehow he feels responsible for it, as the whole story made him build a wall between them both and she ended up looking for comfort in another man's arms.

But how come Paul know that and not confront his mother?

Exactly..... Paul of all people should have said something to his mom.

I just don't know how you could keep a secret like like and still go on living with someone..About Phoebe I mean not Howard. Everyone seems to me to behave very strangely in this book..I'm not sure if it's all due to the 'secret' or not...sorry tired and rambling....
