candieb - January 28, 2007 08:10 AM (GMT)
I want to get this mailed out in the next month or so... we only have a few we are waiting on and the box is getting pretty full! If you have something to add to it, please contact either myself or Geegal so we can add it to the "waiting for" list!
candieb - February 15, 2007 01:17 PM (GMT)
We are waiting on just two more books, if you have something you want to send to Geegal, better get in touch with me sooner rather than later :)

This was supposed to go out this week, but I got the flu - like the real, 2 weeks, knock you on your butt flu. Poor Tom hasn't had time to do much besides run my errands, answer the phones, apologize to clients, make a mad dash at 9pm to the post office. Ugh. I think I'm on the upswing of it (or maybe I was just granted a reprieve). At least I can hear pretty normally now (seriously, both ears were stuffed up, it was freaky) LOL
Oh yeah, and I'm on good drugs which means I make NO SENSE.
Bottom line, M-Bag will go out next week, hopefully. At this rate, I should probably Air Mail it to ya! ;)
ETA: Holy crap! I just check DHL rates to send a 30 pound package to Germany just out of curiosity. Dude, nevermind, I can fly it there myself cheaper... LOL...

Gah! Has it been like 3+ weeks? No excuse, but I had that flu, then a respiratory infection, the my husband got sick, we had a flat tire, etc etc. We actually took the stupid thing to the post office (where I had called 3 days prior to ask them if they had an Mbag, they did) and they told me I had to come back. THEN the dog saga started.
Really, just a bunch of little excuses that add up to the box is sitting in the trunk of my car to go on Friday or Monday. I'm finally going to the post office MYSELF again instead of paying the courier service to bring it me because we are all infectious. Ugh. Everyone has been so ill!

I should have replied earlier but I couldn't find my log in info. Anyway, candy: It's not urgent at all!! I am really grateful that you have been taking to much effort. Please pick the cheapest mailing option for you.

Oh gawd, I hate the post office... so I dragged the 20 some pound box through TWO post offices today... mine, who was supposed to have an Mbag and another one...
No one in this god forsaken city has a freaking m-bag.
Someone's gonna get hurt if I go back tomorrow and they still don't have it. WTF?

And you live in an enlightened city!
The one time I did an m-bag (never again unless the 5-10 pound version pans out) I had to go to one PO to get the tag and another 6 miles away to get the bag.
Good luck tomorrow and hope you're over your flu.

This M-Bag is cursed. Sigh. My life is complete chaos. Tom was going to take it this afternoon (I even called and MADE SURE they had the stuff this time) when my daughter stepped on the dog (a weird accident, she tripped, tried to catch herself, Julie was just in the wrong place at the wrong time), who howled horribly and then limped around. Yeah, so hubby spent the afternoon at the vet instead. I could just SCREAM at this point. $250 later, the dog doesn't have anything broken, but is obviously in pain - torn ligament or over extended or something they think - and now gets painkillers for a week. I want painkillers! I need drugs! What about me?!?!?
I dunno when this fricking-frack m-bag is going to go out. Tom is going to try tomorrow after I'm done with some meetings and stuff in the morning.
I swear, if one more thing happens this month I'm just going going to check myself into the nearest loony bin with a nice padded room.
I am SO SORRY, geegal... it will go out... at this rate, I'm betting on July. I know it's not funny. I'm sorry :( :( Life is just in my freaking way this month.
Geegal - March 22, 2007 08:17 AM (GMT)
Had I known the trouble this would cause... I am really sorry Candy! Poor dog. Hope he'll be better soon.
Hey a friend of mine who works in an office where they get legal books via m-bags from time to time said that those books sometimes get here a bit wet. Is the m-bag waterproof?
candieb - March 22, 2007 01:16 PM (GMT)
No, but I can tell Tom to bring some plastic wrap and wrap the box there if they let him. It's pretty well sealed up though, unless someone submerged it, I don't imagine it would get wet.
candieb - March 23, 2007 06:11 PM (GMT)
Tom said it took an act of congress, but the M-Bag is on it's way. It took 3 of them to figure out how to fill out the paperwork AND they said it would take 4-6 MONTHS to get there (usps.com says weeks). Rather than argue, Tom just nodded his head a lot. *laugh*
So, it's on it's way... sorry it was such a weird roller coaster...
... oh, and we went outside today to find the windshield is cracked. WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON?!?!!?
They didn't let him wrap anything, but he sealed all the edges with packing tape and he said it should be fine unless someone dumps it overboard... which at this rate wouldn't surprise me. That thing is cursed, I'm telling you. You might want to have it exorcised when it gets there.

:shedevil: have to have it exorcised, ey? I better check the content list. Isn't the Huntress among the titles :giggle:
Thanks again and again also to Tom. Nodding is always a good strategy when one deals with people form the post office. The more time I have before the m bag arrives the better because I might get a new bookshelf in the meantime. I am a bit worried that it might be a bit of a hassle when the m bag gets here. I can already see myself going to customs offices which have rediculous opening hours. We'll see... And I'll let you know!

I guess ship’s name will be Titanic
candieb - March 24, 2007 02:14 PM (GMT)
Heh! Maybe your Huntress book caused all these problems? Well, it's gone now, so maybe I should go play the lottery! ;)
No problem, it was fun to do it and I have a great post office story now! It ended up being like 30 books I think and 24 pounds (or 10.8 kilograms)
