Hey, folks. I was out buying books today when I found a book I thought would be wonderful for a mother's day themed swap, and wondered if there would be one. Then I realized that Mother's Day is May 11, and if there was going to be one, it'd already be soliciting players, and I thought, well... maybe I'll host it, then!

So, I'm putting up a poll -- does anyone else want to play? Since it's Mother's Day themed, the books ought to be related to mothers somehow... which, honestly, shouldn't be a difficult task. I mean, aside from the obvious (like Chicken Soup for the Mother's Soul) there ought to be no shortage of novels in what may even the the literary sub-genre of "generational novels," etc. to choose from... I think it'd be totally playable.

Since Mother's Day is May 11th, which is a Sunday, I figured that would be an entirely reasonable day to start play, then it occurred to me that maybe the moms who would want to play in the swap have plans for that day :lol: so maybe it'd be better to start on the Monday after?

When you vote in this poll, your choice of answer ought to be pretty easy. If you're thinking "maybe" and wishing I had a third option, please vote "yes" and then just post here in the thread to let me know any caveats ("maybe I'll play, but only if we start play on Monday.")

Also, please weigh in on the start date: Is May 11 good for those of you who would want to play? If not, would May 12 as a start date be an acceptable alternative?

Monday the 12th works better for me. I voted sure and I even have the perfect book in mind for this already. :yahoo:

Actually, for anyone who's checking in on this, Monday the 12th will work better for me, too :lol: Not 'cause something all mother's-day-ish will be happening (although we do have the kids that day), but because Alex's birthday party is going to be taking place that day :rofl: so, if this goes forward, there is a very good chance that play will begin on Monday the 12th.

Well, since you said that, I've gotten three more votes for no.

I'm not sure. Is seven enough for a swap? I've seen swaps start sign-up threads that, if they didn't make it to ten they wouldn't go... I'd like to do it. I've never hosted a swap before. Maybe starting small is a good thing? :giggle:
