Title: Next Read-Through
Description: What to pick?
Sunlightbub - April 26, 2008 08:53 PM (GMT)
There were an awful lot of suggestions so by means of randomness and if I'm honest what struck my fancy, I've listed 15 which is the max number...I don't think a poll with this many will be conclusive so in about a week, I'll post another poll with the top 3, to make a final decision.
Please vote in this one even if you aren't sure if you'll read through together or not :)
Oh, and at this stage vote for as many as you like!
stellarv - April 26, 2008 09:11 PM (GMT)
I'd love to take part on that this time! :)
I already voted!
Marlene - April 26, 2008 09:23 PM (GMT)
Me to. I have voted for the books I did not yet read. which means no lovely Book Thief or great Slammerkin, or classic In Cold Blood.
I picked quite, a few based on books I had heard a lot about
But I do not yet have a copy
* The Sea
* The Lady and The Unicorn (Hey I do have a TBR copy) :)
* I capture the Castle?
* On Beauty
* The Shadow of The Wind
It would be great if we can have some time for people like me, so we can try to get the chosen book. :)

A Prayer for Owen Meaney!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Loved it...
And The Lady and the Unicorn is good, too!
Didn't love The Dante Club or On Beauty.
VeganMedusa - April 26, 2008 11:04 PM (GMT)
I picked about 5 that I haven't read yet but are available to me (either in the library or on my shelf). Not that I'd have anything intelligent to say.
Xeyra - April 27, 2008 10:12 AM (GMT)
I've read a lot of these... and don't have copies anymore. Hmmm.
msjoanna - April 27, 2008 02:50 PM (GMT)
I voted for those that I haven't read yet. I hated On Beauty, enjoyed Slammerkin, enjoyed The Book Thief, loved In Cold Blood, loved Owen Meany, but skipped voting for those figuring I'd rather get to something I haven't read.
cheesygiraffe - April 27, 2008 04:16 PM (GMT)
I've read The Patron Saint of Liars, A Prayer for Owen Meaney and I Capture the Castle. Loved all 3 of them.
I voted for The Shadow of the Wind because it's the only one I have in Mt. TBR.
camis - April 27, 2008 04:30 PM (GMT)
I voted Slammerkin & In Cold Blood as I have those on Mount TBR :D
The Shadow of The Wind is a great book
nursiegirl42 - April 27, 2008 04:58 PM (GMT)
I voted for Slammerkin too!
Marlene - April 27, 2008 07:02 PM (GMT)
So far I capture and The Shadow are on top.
I do not have any of those books but do want to read them ;)
Hmm funny. Both books are quite old but still not available on Bookmooch
I capture the casle is from 2003? 5 years already :erm:

I know I was naughty and didn't read The Girls at the same time as everyone else, but I voted for this one since I'm "free" now to read. I voted for Book Thief and Crimson Petal and the White -- I have both of those and they're both priority TBRs, so I'll be reading them anyway, so I may as well read them with y'all!
Marlene - April 28, 2008 10:19 AM (GMT)
Lol I just released my copy of the Crimson Petal without really having read it.
I see 5 books that come on top so far.
The Shadow of the Wind 10
I capture The Castle. 10
The Crimson Petal and the White 9
Slammerkin 9
Book Thief. 9
Very exiting.
I think I would buy a copy of I Capture The Castle cause reading the reviews I might like it.
Not so sure about Shadow of The Wind.
The other 3 I have read but I would enjoy just reading your thoughts :)
Slammerkin is a book I want to re read maybe one day. Released mine.
Any more votes for The Memory Keeper's Daughter?

I didn't really like this book when I read it even though I wanted to...just didn't really work for me.

Of the front runners....I Capture the Castle is the only one I can get my hands on....
Kyrissaean - April 29, 2008 02:28 AM (GMT)
I've read the two current front runners, I Capture and Shadow, and enjoyed them both!
But come to think of it, that may or may not be a good sign for the non-genre lovers! :giggle:
Marlene - May 1, 2008 09:09 AM (GMT)
three books with 12 votes.
:bump:
chambejd - May 2, 2008 07:21 PM (GMT)
I'm really excited for our read-along to begin! If I can only find some time to fit in the book chosen. I have a hard enough time reading my owed-TBRs.
Sunlightbub - May 2, 2008 07:58 PM (GMT)
Will do the next poll tomorrow..so if you haven't voted yet, it's your last chance!!
zzz - May 2, 2008 08:06 PM (GMT)
I voted for The Sea and On Beauty :)
Xeyra - May 2, 2008 09:00 PM (GMT)
I'm probably going to sit down on this read-along, whichever the book chosen, since I already read the top three choices. I may pop in with comments, though they will probably not be very in depth since I've read these books at least a year ago if not more.
Sunlightbub - May 4, 2008 06:04 AM (GMT)
Could a mod close this one please :)
