Title: What series next?
Description: help me pick my next read

needmorezoloft - April 16, 2008 02:51 AM (GMT)
I'm almost done with my what I call the drag along to work book, and I need a new one. I'll be starting a new right before bed book which is an owed book from a swap.. (and yeah, I have a work book/purse book, an ebook on my palm, a bathroom book, bedside book, and 1 erotica on the side. Oh and the book Jordan and I are sometimes working on that I read out loud to her... OH and the audio book at work. I know, i know, I can't just freakin' pick one. lol

So help me pick which one goes next.

CheriePie - April 16, 2008 03:54 AM (GMT)
Waaah why can't I pick more than one??!!

I can't decide between Marked (the P.C. Cast one, right?) and Motor Mouth (the follow-up to Metro Girl by Evanovich).

I voted for Undead and Unemployed. I've read a couple of those and they were fun. Probably a good idea to dig your way through a series you've already started before diving into the #1 of a completely different series. I may be wrong  but that's how I'm feeling tonight. Probably just leftover cranky from being forced to read multiple books at once during the school semester when I prefer to focus on one at a time. :giggle:

I chose Marked...although there are some others you should really read next ;)

terra57 - April 16, 2008 09:41 AM (GMT)
You have to read Marked next. It's a really quick book that you will most likely finish in 1 day, I did. Great book and can't wait to get my hands on books 2 and 3.

Kyrissaean - April 16, 2008 12:28 PM (GMT)
I voted for Midnight Alley, 'cos I just finished that one too and it's really good -- love that series! It's a tie between that one and Marked -- equally good but different teeny vamps! :vampire2: You'd finish either one lickidy-split!

And my tie for second choice is between Sookie the Seventh and Undead and Unemployed.

Really, you can't go too wrong with that list.

Exactly!!

Vamp it up ;) :vampire:

I said Sookie #2, but a LOT of good books are on that list...
:vamp:

aargh I always love these kind of polls but I have not read any of these series.

Someone told me I might like a paranormal book. O now I forgot which book it was.
Stephanie Meyers? does that ring a bell? it is also part of a series

eta found it I think.
Twilight.?

noumena12 - April 16, 2008 09:42 PM (GMT)
I voted for Sookie #7 so you could send it to me when you are done!!! :bash: :shedevil: :bananadance:

I love that series! But it's pretty teen romance-y. The main character spends a lot of time mooning over boys (well, one boy in particular) the way only a teenager can.

It would not be a book I immediately thought of for you, but if you're in the mood for something different....

I actually recommended to Marlene to try out some of Neil Gaiman's stuff. My first choice for her would probably be Neverwhere.

I haven't read the Twilight series yet though I do have all 3 here on Mt. TBR and hope to get to them soon, before the movie. I really loved P.C. Cast's House of Night series though so I was thinking I'd be giving 9s and 10s to the Twilight ones as well.

HOWEVER, the fact that you said teen romance-y and (is it) Bella crushing on her boy (would that be Edward?).... you know, that's the one aspect I hate the most about teen books. I don't mind that they have boyfriends and all, but I hate the whole swooning and crushing on this boy or that boy stuff. It makes me barf!

So hopefully that isn't as pronounced as all that and ruin that series for me. I hope not!

That series is definitely YA paranormal romance in my book, no question about it.

I can't say exactly how you'll take it, Cherie. I know you usually say you're not into romancey books, and I'll tell anybody that I love them. And then we end up liking a lot of the same books so who knows? I suspect you'll be rolling your eyes during some parts or wanting things to hurry up at least, but they're worth a try.

Yeah, I know we tend to roll our eyes over some of the same things, Kyri. I remember when I didn't even know you that well yet and didn't hang out here much yet and we had that long discussion over Urban Shaman?

So yeah, I definitely wouldn't not try them based on what you said, but whereas I was thinking I was going to absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE them, maybe I'm gonna knock that LOVE down a notch or two. I hate when I expect so much and it doesn't deliver so believe it or not, that helps!

needmorezoloft - April 17, 2008 06:14 PM (GMT)
I have Twilight, but it's in the shed in a box, so I didn't add that to my choices. :giggle:

terrafreaky - April 17, 2008 06:20 PM (GMT)
I just finished Motor Mouth, so I picked that one.
