Tribefan - April 15, 2008 02:26 PM (GMT)
TinkEsq wrote a wonderful article about the Family Reading Festival and it made it into the newsletter! The picture with Clifford is gothamgal and me!! Can't wait for next year! I think I'll have over 600 books to release just myself!

Yeah, we'll have to start working on getting everything organized. I think we might set up a release point earlier this year...
We're going to talk about it on saturday. I know that saturdays aren't the best for you... but we'll email the group.
Everyone did an amazing job, bookobsessors included!

I just finished reading about it myself. Congrats! It's great to see your event turned out so well.
For those that might not get the Newsletter....
RCBP StoryAre you guys planning a theme or anything for next year? What types of books do you need most of? I'll keep my eyes open during the summer sale season and try to send some to help. I wanted to for this year, but the word came so short and we'd just moved, so I simply didn't have the funds to send any.

We were very short on Kids/Teen books and we had alot of people asking about How To books and we had none of those! I've already started collecting nonfiction type books for the event... So I guess basically kid/teen books and nonfiction of all kinds! :D
Thanks for asking!

I have a few of each of those I can send your way. How about any self help type books? I have a few of those that were given to me that I'd like to eventually see go where they can be used.
I will round up what I have now to send to you and keep my eyes open for more.
I also have a couple on how to care for specific pets .... west highland terrier, iguana, etc etc ..... any interest for those maybe?

That is really neat to see something like that! Congrats on the great work and well deserved recognition.

ANY nonfiction would be great! I was surprised to see how popular they were!
Gothamgal - April 18, 2008 02:17 PM (GMT)
Yeah, I think an amazing effort was done by everyone!
And we got all kinds of requests--from religious to self help to college textbooks to mainstream lit, etc.
I'm not tossing any idea out for collection for 2009's festival. I've already got a few boxes set aside, LOL...

So do I, so do I!
redhot-brat - April 19, 2008 06:31 PM (GMT)
I'm starting a box for you guys now. I hit a church rummage sale today (right scross the street from my house too) and they had everything $3 a bag. They had a bunch of kids books (ages 3-8 maybe), so I grabbed all that were left for my bag. :D
I just finished sorting through my shelf for the ones I already had to add to it. I figure this box will be full soon and ready to ship. Also towards the end of the month the BIG library in Mankato will be hosting a booksale (10,000+ books already) and they generally do a bag sale too, so I will likely grab some there too.
I'll sort out the self help and other assorted odds n ends non-fiction I have here too. My hubby is ready to kiss you guys for "giving me a reason to get rid of some of my overstock". I don't have THAT many books. Ok - well maybe I do. I simply can't resist adopting homeless or unwanted books ... I hate seeing them get tossed in the garbage when I KNOW (eventually) I can find them a home. I can't be the only one like that on here. Right? :giggle:
