Title: 5 years today!
Description: BC'ing anvis.

needmorezoloft - March 31, 2008 01:59 PM (GMT)
I joined BC'ing 5 years ago today. I can't even believe the # of books I've got in that short span of time. I went from not reading at all, to a book worm. Kinda hard to believe that 5 years ago, I avoided reading at all cost, and now I have a book on me everywhere I go.

I'm going to do some wild releases today.. just not sure how I want to do them... be it just tons all over town, release in groups of five, or what.

Any ideas on my wild release day?

EDIT.. oh I guess it would help to say I have a butt load of books to wild release. The little old lady down the street gives me bags of book.. they are the old romance ones that no one wants.. so they are my fodder. I've got at least 20 in my backsteat in ziplock bags ready to go.. (It's rather rainy today.)

Congrats Leilani. :bananadance:
When did BC start to exist? anyone knows?
2003? or even earlier?

Have fun. I am not an expert in wild reelasing. I started to give up cause so many were picked up but never got a JE.

:yahoo: CONGRATS!! :yahoo:

Perhaps a fun way would be to go places that have meaning for you and release in sets of 5. Then you can share your anniversary by celebrating other important places...or things that they represent anyhow. Just a thought.

I did a huge release in this style the last time I was in the Chicago area. It was a fun way to re-visit special places.... my first school, fave playground, movie theather of my first date, park of my first kiss..... you get the idea.

It would have to be earlier because I joined in July of 2002.

Q:    Where'd you get the idea for BookCrossing.com? (hide)
A:  We've always liked sites like Where's George? (which tracks U.S. currency by serial number) and PhotoTag.org (which releases disposable cameras then tracks their whereabouts and displays the pictures taken along the way) and GeoCaching.com (where you can stash and search for items with GPS technology), and so we thought to ourselves, "okay, what's something else that people would have fun releasing and then tracking?" And we thought of books, which made perfect sense, since everyone (well, almost everyone) loves books. Twenty-eight mostly sleepless nights later, on April 17, 2001, BookCrossing.com was launched.

Congrats Leilani!!
