Title: Bookmooch question
Description: book returned

xallroyx - March 30, 2008 11:24 PM (GMT)
I am relatively new to bookmooch and don't really understand everything there. I recently sent out a book and it was returned to me. The post office said that there was "no such number". I emailed the member who has quite an interesting history (does look fishy). I have not received a response and I would like to cancel out the transaction, but I have no idea how. Since I have already marked it sent, my only options are email and lost (which it is not since I have book). I wonder if anyone else has had this happen or know what to do. Thanks!

Well since you have not gotten a reply back from the member and they look fishy anyways, you can go to their home page and report them by hitting the abuse button. You can then detail what has happened and ask how to handle it. Also Morecode is a big wig and helps out some over there, so you could pm her and ask about it as well. :giggle:

Sorry I can not be of any more help.

The "report abuse" button is one option, or just try contacting support and outline what happened. They're pretty fast at responding and resolving the situation in a fair way.

Yes I think I would ask support first.
But why would someone give you a wrong address? They do not benefit cause the book wont go to them?

Just FYI all "report abuse" does is send a message to the support team. It's the same thing as contacting support.

Really?
They should change that.
one support button and one report abuse one.

I would not so easily use the report abuse email like in this circumstance

Thanks for this interesting piece of info Morsie :)

I don't know - I'm on hiatus from there

they may have changed it
at one point they were talking about having a separate group of people to handle "support" problems so that the mods weren't overworked, but I don't know if that happened.

If things are still as they were - the messages all go to the same group of people (the abuse ones just have the subject lines formatted a special way).

In any case, in this situation using the "abuse" button is appropriate because as xall said the person's account looks fishy and it should be looked into.

I think people get intimidated by the word "abuse", but it's not like you could have a "report possible problem with account or transaction" so abuse is what's on the button.

I did send a message using the "abuse" button. The moocher I was sending the book to has nothing marked as received and no one has received anything that was supposedly "sent". I should have looked at the history before sending it, but now I know.
