Title: BC Anniversary Giveaway
Description: Open to all!--closed

xallroyx - March 24, 2008 05:38 PM (GMT)
My BC Anniversary is coming up next week. I cannot believe all the books I have acquired since becoming a member of this awesome community and I'd like to give back! Starting April 3, I will draw one name a day for a week and send out a book.

To sign up, please post a list of 3-4 books you would like from my AVL/TBR shelf. If you are picked, I will move those up to read or just package and send them on out!

Gothamgal - March 24, 2008 05:53 PM (GMT)
Congrats!
I got your PM today, and am replying now... But I saw this, and wondered if I might be able to get any of these:::

Falling Leaves (The Unwanted Chinese Daughter)
Size 12 is Not Fat
The 10th Circle
The Henry Rollins book.

If these are anyone's wishlist books, then that's cool I don't need them. But if you want to get rid of them...

Congrats! This is awesome!

First of all, congrats on your BCversary! I'm just like you. In the three years (come May) I've been in BC and Relay and BO, I've read and acquired more books than I remember doing, even when I was a young girl obsessed with her library. :P

So, to celebrate your anniversary, I'm putting my name down for the draw. It's not like I have too many books, right? :bash:

Here's my little list.

The Bookseller of Kabul by Asne Seierstad
A Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson
PostSecret: Extraordinary Confessions from Ordinary Lives by Frank Warren
The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas by John Boyne

Thanks so much for holding this, Tanya!

hobbit - March 27, 2008 12:35 AM (GMT)

I used to have it! I sent it through Bookmooch some months ago. It didn't hold my interest, though. I gave up on it half-way through but that was me.

I've more or less become obsessed with 'Go' not because I like the manga Hikaru no Go! that's a ridiculous assumption! and I liked Shan Sa's book 'Empress' so I'm hoping to like this one as well

CheriePie - March 28, 2008 11:49 PM (GMT)
Hiya Tanya!

Can you add me for Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay.

I really don't need to be collecting more books what with trying to consolidate stuff to move, but Mike and I love this TV series (we've been watching on Showtime since before it was even edited for network television) and I'd been planning to pick up that book so both he and I could read it sometime. (He's such a slow reader that library isn't always a very good option for him.)

Thanks for your contest hon!

Happy Bookcrossing anniversary, Xallroyx! I understand about the vast numbers of books you seem to have acquired -- I feel the same way. I can look over at my bookshelf and know that more than three-quarters of it are books that I got somehow through bookcrossing!

Here is my list:

PostSecret: Extraordinary Confessions from Ordinary Lives - Frank Warren
Smoke and Mirrors - Neil Gaiman
Lamb : The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal - Christopher Moore
The Stupidest Angel : A Heartwarming Tale of Christmas Terror - Christopher Moore
Uglies (Uglies Trilogy, Book 1) , Pretties (book 2), and Specials (book 3) - Rodrigo Corral, Scott Westerfeld

I know that's more than 4 books. If it makes you feel any better, they're all on my wishlist! :giggle: It's really hard to cull a list that's entirely of books you really want. If my name gets drawn, I'll leave the hard decisions of picking up to you

xallroyx - April 1, 2008 01:46 AM (GMT)

Yay!! :yahoo: :spin:

Mike is happy too! We both wanted to read this one so getting it from the library, especially since he's a very slow reader, wasn't the best option for us.

But anyway, here I was just having spent the half hour or more updating this list and that all around the site here, doing all those little grunt admin tasks that take up so much time but are hardly ever noticed, and I've got this headache see, and I'm thinking, darn I need a good pat on the back right about now, and then voila, I come into this thread and see that I won. So it was like perfect timing as I was just right at this time needing that 'atta girl to keep me going!

Thanks sweetie!! :hugz:
