shaunesay - March 24, 2008 04:07 PM (GMT)
Yep, yet another book cataloging, reviewing, share with yer friends website, cause you can never have too many of them!

I was just curious if anyone had found and decided to be on this on yet (I've got the link down in my sig if you want to go take a look)

I'm Shaunesay over there too, if anyone is interested in bein' my friend

Xeyra - March 24, 2008 04:18 PM (GMT)
I've been using those widgets on my livejournal and Bookmooch page. I didn't know it was compatible with the forum sigs, though. It looks really pretty in your sig, shaunie. I may copy you one of these days. :P

I'll go friend you there.

msjoanna - March 24, 2008 05:00 PM (GMT)
I love Goodreads!

You'll find me through the link in my sig and should be able to link up with some other folks from here as well...

AM10000 - March 24, 2008 05:48 PM (GMT)
I just signed up too :)

CheriePie - March 24, 2008 07:06 PM (GMT)
I got an invite to Goodreads from some name I didn't recognize a couple weeks back so I treated it as spam. :giggle:

ETA - Does anyone know a "kipling"?

CheriePie - March 24, 2008 07:11 PM (GMT)
Oh I see, as I'm signing up now, it's got that stupid "feature" where if you key in your gmail password it'll spam everyone in your address book with an invite. No wonder I got that invite from someone I don't know from a whole in the wall. :whip:

Okay, well I went ahead and signed up without using kiping's stupid invite link now. :P So I'm CheriePie there as well.

Gothamgal - March 24, 2008 07:12 PM (GMT)
I think I'm on there, probably as GothamGal... :P

And I've been wondering about the widget, gotta go steal it for my siggy!

AceofHearts - March 24, 2008 08:54 PM (GMT)
I'm on there :)

chronicbooker3 - March 24, 2008 10:05 PM (GMT)
I'm just going on there and figuring it out

boogal - March 24, 2008 10:12 PM (GMT)
I'm there, too.

cheesygiraffe - March 24, 2008 10:18 PM (GMT)
What's the deal with goodreads.com? Before I sign up for it....

caligula03 - March 24, 2008 11:41 PM (GMT)
Yes I am. Here's my profile.

I dunno, it's just another one of those see what your friends are reading, subscribe to groups if you want, etc. type of thing. Appears to be free, I haven't seen anything yet that costs money. :D

shaunesay - March 25, 2008 12:14 AM (GMT)
I seem to have started a trend with the widget in the siggy

AM10000 - March 25, 2008 01:56 AM (GMT)
They're cool widgets..

CheriePie - March 25, 2008 02:08 AM (GMT)
Okay, I guess I'm in the minority cuz I don't like em for siggies. Think they're too tall. :P (I tried to edit it to make it shorter and wider but no go, it just shrunk the whole thing in size and made it harder to read.)

yeah, it would be better if it were long-wise rather than tall, I do agree.

caligula03 - March 25, 2008 02:23 AM (GMT)
I don't do siggies here but I do have a GoodReads widget on my BookCrossing profile. :)

Breeni - March 25, 2008 12:05 PM (GMT)
I'm trying to add you all to my friends list. I am Breeni Books/Sabrina W.

morsecode - March 25, 2008 01:00 PM (GMT)
I got an invite from chronic and created an account (I'm morsecode - feel free to add me)

TwiggySC1973 - March 25, 2008 01:54 PM (GMT)
I'm there too!

nimrodiel - March 25, 2008 03:41 PM (GMT)
I'm nimrodiel there as well.

Though most of y'all have found me in the last few days.

cheesygiraffe - March 31, 2008 05:20 PM (GMT)
Okay I have an account here now thanks to Facebook. :P
I'm cheesygiraffe.

cheesygiraffe - March 31, 2008 06:01 PM (GMT)
What the heck? I went to add more people and it told me I reached my limit of friend requests for the day?!

I am adding slowly but surely, but I seriously doubt that I will ever get all of my books listed there. LOL :giggle:

I am not going to do that. Yikes! I slowly added books to bookcrossing as I got them. I have to many to list as TBR there and too many I've already read over the years to mess with. I am on dial up! :whip:
I did add all the books I've read this year. And what I am reading now.

Me too! That would be crazy! Like I don't spend enough time on the computer.

I just started adding the books that I have in queue for review and the ones I've gotten this year.

I think I've gotten everyone added now. The ones I've missed found me, I think.

stellarv - April 1, 2008 09:06 PM (GMT)
I'm there too. Just put good reads into my signature. ;)

Nope! I tried to import my LibraryThing shelf when I first joined up, since that contains almost all my fiction I have or have read and passed along, but it wouldn't let me. :whip: So yeah I've just been marking things as I see others in my friends list add it to their own shelf. If I've read it, I'll go add it and add my review at that time. And also, I'll keep track going forward as I have been.

Marlene - April 1, 2008 09:52 PM (GMT)
I signed up yesterday, last night to be exact and i already have 20 friends. O no 21 now. A guy (he is an author) asked me for my friendship  )

:yahoo: Finally!!!!

Anyways I like this site.
Lately have some problems on shelfari , lots of errors and that annoys the hell out of me.
I would miss the people that I've met on shelfari though, so I am trying to get them to go and sign up on GR.

By the way I managed to import my first amazon wish list page. :bananadance:

You still have to edit each book to tag them with wish list.

O my name? Marlene... (yes it was still free! ) :bananadance:

Yeah shelfari loads soooooo slowly that I hated going there to update things on my own shelf. Plus I felt as if you had to jump through too many steps to do certain things which always made updating over there a bit more cumbersome than say at LibraryThing, which is the one place I've been consistent with all along.

Oh and I totally hated when they decided to add the read/to be read/currently reading designations, and everything that didn't already have a designation automatically got moved to the Read shelf. I spent several weeks moving 70% of those over to TBR. :whip:

Back to Goodreads though.... I am a bit confused though that I got added to someone's friends list without even my approval. :whip:

Does anyone know who this rockandhawk is? I see Mysterious is on his friends list too. Mysterious did you manually accept a friends request from this person and do you know who he is? :erm:

AceofHearts - April 1, 2008 10:51 PM (GMT)
I just post the reviews of my books read

Same thing happened to me Cherie. He was just on my friends list and I did not approve him. I see that he sells books on Amazon, so I wonder if he is a spammer who has figured out how to bypass the approval step.

Anyways, I removed him from my friends list as I don't want to be his friend. :P

:o That's a bummer. Wonder why it didn't work with librarything.

There was no way I would have moved my books there unless I could just import them.
I wasn't going to sit there and put in 1000+ books either, that is just crazy, I could be reading. :P

I imported my books by using their sample csv file and just cut a pasted my data-- shelf by shelf into the proper columns including STAR ratings, added any extra shelf names I needed -- selecting the shelf to put everything on before importing it.

Then again, I'm a database nut

Actually, Yes I do know who he is. He is a member of title trader and someone I purchased a book from on Amazon for my daughter.

 That is really weird. I added him to my list , not visa versa.

Hmmm.... okay well at least you know him, and that explains how he found me and Wendy. But yeah, quite odd that he was able to totally bypass the approval process in both our cases.

I went ahead and took him off my list too though anyway. :P

Thanks for the updates you two! :)

noumena12 - April 2, 2008 01:39 AM (GMT)
Okay...I'm on there now. I just imported my books but messed it up. I'm going to have to delete them (once it finishes the import) then re-import. I've also added the app to both Facebook and MySpace. I also thought it added some friends but the only person showing up is the person who sent me the invite...

stellarv - April 2, 2008 02:41 PM (GMT)
I picked information from Bookcrossing when I registered and now I'm only registering books as they arrive and as I read them. There are lots of TBR books at home, but I do not intend on registering them all anytime soon. Maybe eventually I will...
