Title: Ugh, I knew I was sick, but geez...
candieb - March 21, 2008 04:21 PM (GMT)
I NEVER go to the doctor. If I go, there is something actually wrong with me. I hate the waiting, I hate the needles. I just hate the whole thing. Sometimes I wonder why I bother having insurance. LOL.
So, the past couple of weeks, I've had this nasal thing that I thought was leftover from allergies. On Tuesday, I had the chills/hot flashes and just generally in bad shape. I've had a sore throat the past few days.
So, I get enough of the swallowing daggers and decide to go to that Minute Clinic thing in CVS because you don't have to wait 3 hours to get a freaking antibiotic.
That was AWESOME. 30 minutes and I was out of there. They don't take my insurance, but it was $70 compared to $30 co-pay, so big freaking deal.
I have strep throat, a bacterial sinus infection, viral bronchitis and fluid on my ears.
Geez... is that all?
At least I have drugs... and apparently, the flu is still around and they are still having problems with it, so I got the freaking flu shot while I was there.
Apparently, I'm not contagious anymore though? Whatever... the drugs should kick in soon...

Wow! Candy! Get yourself to bed. I'm just an hour or so away ... call if you need chicken soup!
Gothamgal - March 21, 2008 05:20 PM (GMT)
You need some soup and a good book...
Feel better,

Geez - That stinks. Get yourself some rest and hope the drugs do their thing soon.

Geeze Louise woman! :whip: Do ya think ya waited long enough? Hey, I bet if you'd waited another day or so you could have had pneumonia too!
 Feel better! *fluffs the pillows, puts a mug tea close by and a stack of books*
CheriePie - March 21, 2008 07:02 PM (GMT)

I know... I honestly figured it was just my allergies in my nose (I wonder how long I've had a sinus infection - duh!). And the other I thought was just a quickie virus.
Apparently not... I'm really glad I went today though. :duh: I do feel a little stupid, but I get allergies really bad EVERY year and Tom had a 24 hour bug last week, so my stupidity was somewhat warranted. I think I'm gonna get a nap. The kids are asking for Mexican for dinner so if my throat feels better we're gonna take them out for dinner, otherwise, we'll order something or open soup for soup and sandwiches. LOL

Wow Candie. :o
Maybe next time you try to go sooner to the doctor.
And if you hate it so much I think it is money well paid indeed in that Minute Clinic.
so they offer immediately service? no need to wait, no need to make an appointment? Okay more expensive but in your case maybe a great idea!
You need to rest a lot girl.
(and read)
Good of you that you finally went and even let them inject you against the flue! . I also hate to go to the doctors.

Yeah, it's kind of cool actually, CVS is a pharmacy (like Wallgreens - or Longs Drugs? not sure what you guys have over there... LOL). It's just a little room inside the store.
http://www.minuteclinic.com/en/USA/I think my insurance will even reimburse the difference to me. But like I said, not having to sit and wait with a room full of other sick people rocked.
And I'm feeling a little better. My throat is still a little itchy, but at least I don't feel like I'm swallowing razors. Kewl.

Is that all? :giggle:
Seriously, I hope you feel better soon Candieb.
My pharmacy is CVS but I have never heard about this minute clinic. They can't be in all CVS pharmacies are they? I'd actually be dubious if my pharmacy did have it. We always have lines for picking up drugs, dropping off prescriptions, and even just to buy in stores item at the regular register.

yuck! I get this --> bacterial sinus infection, viral bronchitis
every year so I understand how you are feeling... :( That is not fun.
Do go to bed and rest, read some nice books and have that tea and soup the girls are offering. :)
Get well soon!

I'd never heard of them either Liz, but I went to
the site Candy linked to, and from the dropdown box, I was surprised to see that Connecticut does indeed have them. (Though Massachusetts and New Hampshire do not which would be why I'd never heard of them.)

Sorry you're sick Candy. My husband would love if our CVS had that minute clinic. He hates our Doctor. He hates waiting too.

Yeah, it's an interesting business model. I mean, you walk in, they check you and give you a 'script. It's actually much more efficient than actually going to the doctor - it's more of a retail situation, which I liked a lot better *laugh* I was really skeptical, but I mean, they are PA, just like what I would have gotten in to see anyway. It's not like I needed anything more than someone to say "yup, she's sick, give her drugs" LOL
Anyway, apparently very select Walgreens has something similar.
http://www.takecarehealth.com/Interesting.
I, on the other hand, used my NetiPot earlier to get rid of some of the yuck and I feel a lot better. We even went out for Mexican food. I had a burrito and no chips cuz my throat is still scratchy, but dude... I'm amazed at how much more effective antibiotics are - I don't remember feeling better so much sooner when I was kid - course I was ALWAYS sick when I was a kid - I had chronic ear and bladder infections. Probably why I absolutely hate the doctor now ;)
I was reasonably sure I was dying when I woke up this morning.
