Title: Getting the cold shoulder...
Description: literally!

krin511 - March 20, 2008 02:17 PM (GMT)
Hi! I saw the orthopedist yesterday because I've been having problems raising my left arm. It turns out I have adhesive capsulitis - "frozen shoulder" and will need to take steroids, extra-strength ibuprofen and will have physical therapy for the next month. It doesn't hurt unless I try to raise the arm too much.

So now, if someone complains I'm giving them the cold shoulder - I can say "I can't help it!"

wow that sucks. I have never heard of that.
Good of you to see the humour of it.

Huh! I didn't even know there was a condition like that! It's very good to know that it's treatable/reversable, though! I hope you get a chance or two to use your joke :giggle: My mother, when she broke her elbow (in three places: all three bones right around the elbow joint) told everyone that the doctor told her she'd done a good job of a bad break  she thought it was hilarious.

I too am glad it's treatable, though it will take time. I also may end up with less mobility but if I can get the arm higher than my shoulder, I'll be happy.

Meanwhile - I have a good reason to ask for help when I need it!

Karen I hope the steroids and therapy help. And now maybe we won't be getting the cold shoulder from you.

OOoh, krin sounds like they need to bolster that therapy with some reading... LOL.

Maybe you can get that added to the Rx.

Hope you feel better, and that the regimine does the trick.

:D

:vibes:

Take care of yourself! And I suppose you'd better lay off doling out the whippings :whip: as well for the time being, until your shoulder's better.

I feel for you krin. I had one years ago and you never realized just how everything you do almost raises your arm a certain amount.

I know! I've had to figure out what I can reach with just my right arm and use the left one as a relay - passing things to the right.

Ouch, that sounds nasty. Wishing you a speedy recovery!

Time for a shoulder update:

I'm in my third week of therapy. I go twice a week and I do exercises every day at home. I have more shoulder movement, but I'm not at full recovery yet. However (and the orthopedist will confirm this on Monday), it looks like I also have rotator cuff tendonitis and another type of tendonitis, so more therapy.

Oh joy.

cheesygiraffe - April 10, 2008 08:30 PM (GMT)
Ouch Karen! Keep up the therapy and I hope everything starts healing soon.
