I'm thinking I'll want to participate in this one -- since the last was full of so many lovely books... but I need to visit a bookstore before I can commit  put me down as a maybe and I'll get back to you.

I am wondering. what is many books?
For people that don't read as much as we. Is 100 books normal?
Breeze - March 19, 2008 08:12 PM (GMT)
I doubt it...
My parents have over 100 books just sitting around but that's nearly a lifetime's accumulation. If you've been keeping all your books your whole life 100 wouldn't be much, I think.
For most of my friends just a few books is a lot...not many are readers and those who are use the library mostly. I think people are most surprised when they hear that all of the books in my house are TBR...I think they assume its all the books I've read in my life....

Lol
I Think I don't have as many as most of you guys here. Maybe a 1000? (I have 2 book shelves upstairs, all Dutch and not registered) Plus some boxes with old children's books of mine. Too old to sell, or giveaway.
so Breeze, once you have read a book you never keep them for your personal collection? :o

I keep almost no books for any sort of PC. I'm not much of a re-reader and I live in a really small apartment.
I probably have about 350-400 books in the apartment and all the shelves are full. Probably 300 are TBR...
But yes, most people are surprised that I haven't read most of the books on my shelves. People always come over and ask, "Oh, I've wanted to read that...was it good?" And I almost always say, "I'll let you know later....:giggle:"
I don't think I can play this month since I really need to get caught up on owed TBRs. I'm trying to read some of the books for my monthly exchange partners and such this month.
chronicbooker3 - March 19, 2008 08:55 PM (GMT)
I cant play this month because Im on holidays that week and hubby and I are going to be free spirited  before the return of university child for the summer
AceofHearts - March 19, 2008 09:17 PM (GMT)
Me please
I am also not a re-reader. I read 'em and send 'em :D
bluecat07 - March 19, 2008 09:58 PM (GMT)
I will be sitting in a train traveling to the North Sea coast on the 24th where I will stay for a week. So I can't play. Too bad! Now that we finally have internet again!
giz-angel - March 19, 2008 10:04 PM (GMT)
I have loads in my PC - I am child of librarians, it's not my fault! :giggle:
Sunlightbub - March 19, 2008 10:20 PM (GMT)
I have a far few in my pc but it does now tend to be ones I love....I am a rereader, but not so much at the mo cos so many tbr's :P

I used to be a re-reader....but not since I found BC! The books I have in my PC (about 6 in total) are not registered and are just sentimental or signed by the author. Now a days, we often end up with 2 copies of a really-really-really good book...one for me to read and pass on, one for DH to take ages to read!
Marlene - March 20, 2008 11:03 AM (GMT)
Hmm I like this talk. I find it interesting to see what you guys do once you have read a book.
Okay back on topic.
breeze. I am only allowed to play if I manage to send the books I owe cause I am already starting to get nervous.
I owe 2 books on bookmooch and 4 on BO which is a lot.
So my plan is to send out a couple today. If I do that I can sign up for this swap tonight. (My reward)
Hmm I have to check if I have the addies. (lost a lot of them thanks to my last pc crash) :erm:
will come back to you tonight.
Flicki - March 20, 2008 11:39 AM (GMT)
Marlene - March 20, 2008 07:36 PM (GMT)
Yep. I did it!!!! :bananadance: :bananadance: :bananadance:
I mailed out 7 books. 5 of them I owed.
Now just 1 left but that is a TBR.
so now Marlene is allowed to play!!! :bounce:
bree you can remove that question mark please.

Oh, my house probably looks like yours. I have lots and lots of books there... but right now I am visiting my parents in BC, so I don't have access to my bookshelf to pick a book to swap with  As for PC books... I do have some. I don't know that I'll ever have the time to re-read any of them, but there's just something all warm and glowy about knowing I have that book if I do want to read it again... or having it handy if I want to lend it to a friend. That was one of the major reasons I joined up with bookcrossing... because I've always loved to share my well-loved books with people, and hear their opinions and find out what they thought or if they enjoyed it, etc. BookCrossing is great for that, because so long as someone journals a book, then I get to see just that!
Bree, I'm in! I have a reveal for this swap so now neither Marlene nor I are maybes anymore! :bananacheer:
(I love that banana with the pompoms... I use it every chance I get :giggle:)
Marlene - March 21, 2008 06:12 PM (GMT)
Yes it is a great smiley and glad you can play.
Also glad to hear your house looks a lot like mine.
poor baby
AM10000 - March 21, 2008 08:59 PM (GMT)

Marlene - March 22, 2008 11:19 AM (GMT)
Looking at the database, not sure if that is correct it is just one book? and the 6 months start today? Do you still have to read it AM?

I would say the 6 months are as of the first day of the swap....
Can you get it sent out in 3 days?!?!?
teachie - March 22, 2008 02:33 PM (GMT)
I have now read my book and am all set to go. :bounce: :yahoo:

Teachie. did you send a reveal to me? or can I open that pm? ;)
Not yet decided on which book. I realise it starts on second day of Eastern, but that is not a problem. I am home. :)
Which book to chose? I am going to see what I ahve and check who are playing.
Breeze. I think you have GateGypsy twice on the list? as GG and as herself?

It is the book for Teachie, it is read and packaged...and Cherie told me to hold on to it and she'll get it from me when she comes over here in April (was going to be March, but was postponed), for the mbag..

Certainly when you have been told not to mail the book then you should be allowed to play IMHO
teachie - March 22, 2008 09:02 PM (GMT)
If CheriePie has told you to keep the book til she sees you in April then I think you should be allowed to play in the swaps.
Marlene you tease! Yes it is my reveal for this swap. :giggle:
elsi - March 22, 2008 09:51 PM (GMT)
OK -- against my better judgement, I'm going to join this swap. I have a *lot* of travel scheduled starting on the 24th. I should never be offline for 12 hours at a time, but I might be gone for 6-8 hours. It would probably be wise to put me near the bottom of the list so that I won't slow things down. At that point, I should be able to leave plays in my signature.

I know what you mean  I had a similar issue at the beginning of Kel's goodbye swap, but it all worked out!
Marlene, I thought that, too, that GG? was me on the list twice 'cause I didn't remember GothamGal posting that she wanted to join...
I doubt AM's packaged-and-awaiting-MBag-deposit-in-person book ought to stop her from joining in. Sounds all under control, to me. Ultimately it's Bree's call, isn't it?
I guess I ought to put together my reveal and send it out, eh? only 2 days 'til we start, and I betcha it'll start early 'cause we're all so impatient :giggle:
ETA: My reveal is out! It's with Marlene, Boomda181, Giz-Angel, & Rootmartin
