Title: Anyone else having flooding rains?

nursiegirl42 - March 18, 2008 08:33 PM (GMT)
In the past 18 hours we have gotten over 4 inches of rain here and its not supposed to stop til Thursday. Living in the country our road has 4 low water bridges on it.. one is flowing very fast about 75 feet across this bridge dry is maybe 10 feet across. The other three arent as big but they are moving very fast hubby and I had to cross them to go get the kids from school this afternoon if we would have waited for school to be over and the bus to bring them they would have been stuck... it scared the tar out of us! I was just curious if anyone else was getting the rain and flooding like this.. this is nuts!! Our yard looks like a small lake!!

We are supposed to get rain tomorrow, but nothing like that.

Stay safe Nursie.

Not yet... :scared: BUT it's been extremely windy today and there's suppose to be a bad storm coming from Texas our way. :erm:

Holly, I figure we should get a boat. Luckily I'm living up higher but I have a creek that goes through the backyard and there's about 2" of water over the whole yard. It's not from the creek overflowing it's just low so I just dug a ditch from the flooded yard down to the creek. My frontyard is a mud pit.

We are in for very bad storms later today. It was incredibly windy all day today. I had my kitchen window open and a gust came through so strong it knocked all the magnets off the fridge! I've never seen that before.

Stay safe and dry!

We are not yet. But it is calling for a lot of rain here and a chance of flooding tomorrow :yuck:

Well, it's still snowing here, but we're just about to cross the most amount of snow ever in recorded history mark this winter for our area. (Less than 10 inches of snow left to break the record set back in the 1800's! Ha! We always get a good dump in April!)

The ground is still frozen and we've got several feet of ice packed on the ground, so every time it does rain or go above freezing there's really no place for the water to go....but into my basement apparently. It's a real mess down there just now. :erm: The water comes....then goes....and now it's back....and it's growing into a serious swampy mold problem! :yuck:

I'm up the side of a valley -- pretty safe from serious flooding. Two springs ago was kind of a close call for a lot of our neighbors though.

Stay safe you guys!
