Title: Postal Rates
Description: rant
AceofHearts - March 17, 2008 09:47 PM (GMT)
I go into the Post Office to mail 3 parcels of similar weight. One to Australia, one to California and one to Alberta.
Australia 5.95
California 6.20
Alberta 10.25
What is going on?????? The furthest away is the cheapest and yes I asked for cheapest on all 3. On what planet could this ever make sense????
Rant over ****sigh******

You've got me..... (???) For the life of me, I don't understand why it's cheaper for you Canadians to ship out of country. Who designed your postal rates???? :bash: An odd system, it is......

Not sure where in Canada you live... but if you live close to the US, it would be cheaper to mail it from the US to Canada.
That's just weird tho

Actually she often does. Ace and Lauren live near Toronto so every once in awhile, they drive into Buffalo to do their mailing. (And I suspect visit BookCloseouts at the same time since I think that's close to the border too, no?) :giggle:

I can't go into BookCloseouts as I have no will power at all  I try to mail all US and Cdn books from the US but mail int'l from here as it is about the same. BookMooch books go right away unless I have a scheduled trip

Do you have a VentureOne card? It doesn't give much of a discount but it allows me to at least send it Priority for the same price. It is awful, but I would much rather send to the States or Intl than send in Canada and especially not within Ontario.

As if the skill-testing questions aren't bad enough...

I did too, but my post office recommended I get one because I send so many books  The savings are not huge, but it gets a little bit of a savings.
