Title: Job interview tomorrow morning...
Description: and I'm starting to get nervous already
intrycksflikka - January 24, 2007 11:03 AM (GMT)
A lot of things have happened in my life the last 3 months. New life as a single, after a long time relationship, new apartment, my work contract wasn't renewed, new friends, received a scholarship for a year to concentrate on my PhD thesis. And now this...
I have a job interview tomorrow morning! 27 job appliers and I'm one of the 4 that was called to an interview. Would be a job I know I would love (since I have had it before as a short term job) and the best thing, it is permanent. Never had a permanent job and haven't thought that I would ever get it in this field of work...
How to prepare with out preparing too much? I can't dress too nice, but nice. I can't have too much make up, but still look nice. I have a new hair style, so that is covered. What else? I know the people that are going to interview me from before, so they already know what I'm like... Good thing since they called me even if they knew me   I guess the best thing is to relax, but still not too much. If I'm now nervous, how am I going to feel tomorrow??

Good luck, Intry!! :bananadance:
Don't stress too much about your appearance. I know, it's so hard not too, but just look a little bit more formal than the employees there usually look (so they know you care to look nice for them, but will blend in well too). They already like what they've seen on paper about you, right? So remember that they like you already and that you are qualified! You'll be great! :D

Don't stress. Try to be as comfortable as possible. Hey, you know your stuff so the interview should be relaxed and you'll be great. And besides, you'll have hundreds of folks sending you good interview vibes! :D

My BF's Dad has the funniest (but incredibly useful) advice: "Pretend you are Superman (woman) and go in there thinking you can do everything and anything!"
I loved this advice; I found I was smiling a lot more, talking 'normally' instead of all tight and formal and I felt more like myself when I boosted my confidence like this... Good luck!!!!
SandDanz - January 24, 2007 12:40 PM (GMT)
Good luck Intry! I'm sure you'll do fabulous! :D

Just try to relax and give it your all. If it is meant to be it will happen. Best of Luck!!

Oh Intry, I have a bit advice! I am currently unemployed (71 cover letters with resumés sent out, only 4 interviews :() and the one thing I notice I have not been entirely prepared for is the "Do you have any questions for us?" question. I have usually frozen up on that one and I think that is not a good thing. So, maybe have a small list of questions, even non-job-relatated questions like "What are you reading?" That is one I am going to ask next time I have an interview (oh please let it be soon).
Going in feeling like Superman is a great idea, too :)
caseyw - January 24, 2007 04:42 PM (GMT)
Best of luck Intry! Let us know how it goes.
nursiegirl42 - January 24, 2007 05:00 PM (GMT)
Good Luck! I agree with the Zmrzlina.. I used to freeze up on that question too.. have a small list of questions prepared before you go. They will be like wow she came with a list for us! LOL
and STAY POSITIVE!!!
GOOD LUCK! Cant wait to hear how it turns out!!
giz-angel - January 24, 2007 10:22 PM (GMT)
Best of luck Intry - I am positive you will do great
I used to be fine with interviews but lately I find them quite stressful - my advice from the perspective of interviewing people is the thing that always stays in my mind about people I have interviewed is enthusiasm and animation. More, much more than what they look like, what they are wearing.
SciFisstrs - January 24, 2007 11:32 PM (GMT)
Good Luck Intry :) Hear's hoping you get it too :::xxx:::
Meg just went for an interview for a job & internship. She saw that they put excellent canidate on her resume but thought after that she didn't do well. She thinks she rambled. Oh well they will e-mail within a week. Hear's hoing she gets it ::::xxx::::::::

I'm still alive. Went okay. Can't do anything else now than wait. The job would start in a week, so I'll guess that I'll hear from them soon. Forgot to ask them when they decide
Oh, well, it is a job I would really really want, but I have my original plans left so I don't have to worry about my nearest future too much if I don't get it.
Sci Hope Meg hear from then soon and that they have good news!

Hope you get a job you love soon!! Seems like a lot of us have had good luck with work lately, hope you have too! It's kind of the being pregnant thing . All of a sudden several of us (not me :P ) announced that they were pregnant.

That's the other thing I have to remember to force myself to ask next time. From what I've read on career sites and books, it is not bad form to ask "When will you be making a decision about this position?"
Hope it all goes fabulous for you and you are "with job" (as opposed to "with child") very soon :D
