Title: Met my book mini-goal.
terrafreaky - March 16, 2008 01:12 AM (GMT)
Only you guys would understand something this geeky.
First off, I've had a lot of book time this weekend because computer and TV are tiring for my eyes (LASIK), but luckily I can read with no problem. Which is ok by me.
Late last year I went through my TBR bookshelves. I moved everything I'd registered with a 3xxxxxx BCID to the shelf in my bedroom. I've been going through and making the final decision to either read or pass on those "3" books. I found several great reads & have made peace with letting several go.
I'm happy to say that I am currently halfway through my final "3" book (
http://bookcrossing.com/journal/3446300 ). I've already started moving some 4's in there because there's nothing I love more than playing with my little library.

Great idea! Well done. :boogie:

That's not a bad idea! I think I still have some books on Mount TBR with 6-digit BCIDS (123-123456).

Congrats!!! I do something similar and pulled out about 25 books to put on the shelves in my living room. I am reading through them and as I move them over I replace the wholes on the shelf. It's not so daunting that way.

When I saw your post yesterday, it inspired me to go throught my TBR registered by other BVers. I cleaned out about 10 and released them at our meetup.
Every little bit helps. Baby steps, right :P
Way to go terra! :bananadance:

Woo hoo! Congrats on that!
I do try to keep TBRs from other BCers toward the top but sometimes I don't succeed. And it's a great idea to be a little mindful about looking at things that have been on the stack for a long time and either read or let them move on.
So thanks for the ideas - I've now been intentional about picking up something that's been on the pile for quite a while from a bookbox (Gone With the Wind).

Congrats! Doesn't it feel great to clear out the languishing books?
I was picking out books for the 2008 TBR challenge (on yahoogroups) when i realized I had an appalling number of "old" books on my bookshelf. I went through and made a list of all the books I've received from others (ones that I didn't register myself) from 2004 or earlier. The list was about 35 books. I finished two more over the weekend, and can't wait to get going on another when I get home from work today. Since most of my old books came from Relay, a lot of you can expect journal entries and traveling books soon! :D

Nice job! I couldn't read for a week after my LASEK (a bit different procedure) and had to listen to audiobooks.
I like your goal. It was fun.

Awesome Terra, this is really cool and inspiring...

Wow that is such a great idea! I never thought of that. To look at the bcid numbers and pick a few.
Hmm I might try that one day.
Good on you! :bananadance:

Thanks guys, I really had a lot of fun with it. It was a feel good goal for sure.
I should add that the reason I could read was because I only had one eye done. I have natural monovision because I'm a weirdo. I'm also still going to follow up appointments because they don't know what the freak is going on with my eye. It's not fully smooth yet. This is my life - Back in 2006 when I hurt my knee it ends up being this super-farfetched Wrisberg type discoid meniscus... and now my LASIK follow ups will never end. *grumble*

I'm going to try something similar after Easter. Gotta get some of those oldies moving, eh?
