So, I was thinking it might be sort of cool to have one of those maps where people can put a pin for their location...

I was thinking this morning about doing a cross country drive, then I was thinking how it might be neat to try to meet up with people on the way...then I realized that there isn't a convenient way for me to remember where everyone is.

I might be able to set up something at google maps or something like that...

ETA: I've set up a Google Map. If you're a google user, you should be able to sign in and add yourself to it. Or if you let me know you want to be added, I can add you if you give me your city. I don't want to go adding anyone who doesn't want to be on there.

To add yourself, you need to sign into google. Then, click the button that says Edit. Then put in your city at the top into the input bar (where it says "search map"). It'll point to that spot on the map. You can right-click on it to add a "place marker" and add your name and (if you want) put the city in the description box.

Click the button that says Edit. Then right click on the map and it will let you add a marker. I had to play around a while to figure that out also. :blush:

If i click on one of your names I go to the place, but not so in my case.

when you clik on edit and then on your name. you should see on the right. so where the map is a little screen, with your name. There you can also change your "avatar"

I changed yours into red. :blush:

Mine won't let me change from the stupid blue blob. Also, I think I accidentally added two more "blank" ones after me, Placemark 17 and Placemark 18, but I can't figure out how to delete them. Stupid Google! :whip:

I figured out how to edit my pin, but yeah I had to refresh the page a few times. I couldn't get that damn properties box to come up otherwise.

And I dunno, perhaps Marlene got the other one. Thanks! :kiss: I deleted Placemarker 18, but #17 was stuck under my valid one so I had a hard time getting to it. :whip:

Now you would think that if you click or double click on a person's name in the BookObsessor's list on the left, that it should go to that location on the map, no? Again, possibly a browser issue here, but I haven't been able to get it to do that.


ETA - NM, I got it to work now... it's very fickle however! :erm:

That works for me...but I think we've had so many editors at once just now that we might be slowing it up, causing the refresh issues.
