Title: Bookcrossing bookplates?

Marlene - March 12, 2008 10:27 AM (GMT)
Hi there.
My BC labels, I think I have just 1 left.

Now I can buy them on the BC site but I was wondering, what do you need to make them your self?

A printer? (I don't have one but I could ask my dad) but what else?
sticky paper?

Hi Marlene,

I'm not sure what's available in the Netherlands, but I tend to buy ready made labels from the stationery shop to print on.

I sometimes find that the labels made by other bookcrossers don't necessarily fit with the size of labels we have here in Australia, so I often just buy a sheet of one large sticky label, print onto that, and then cut up the labels myself.

Hope that makes sense - it's still really hot here at 9pm and my brain has fried!

It makes sense but sounds difficult.

I did receive once a big paper full of bc stickers I could use.
forgot who send that to me.

Maybe I should ask the Dutch bookcrossers or I will be lazy and just buy some. :giggle:
Thanks Lmn

I hope they have the prices up this year! That was one of the things I complained about to them from last year's con - that the prices of the items they were selling needed to be posted. Most of us spent our time waiting on the two teenagers running the "store" to find out how much stuff was. It was very irritating.

Oh, and Marlene, printing the labels on one large sticky page and cutting them yourself is the easiest thing! You don't have to worry about if the design is lined up and will fit, and you can print any size label you want.

I used to design my own using the business card template in my print shop. It made them just about the right size, not too big, or too small. Then I just cut them out and taped/glued them into the books.

For me the part that made it most fun doing that that, was I could customize the pictures on them however I wanted.... I even used some of my own on occasion.

Though these days I just bought one of their stampers and use it for the most part unless I'm doing something special with the book, such as gifting it or a themed release.

Yes I can imagine that is fun to do.
I did so a search on google and discovered some great ones.
The thing is, for me the text is more important than the picture if you know what I mean.

The texts on the bookplates varies also.

I would like them to have on it that you can JE anonymously. (do those exist?)

I print mine on one A4 sized label then cut them up. Saves fiddling around with different sized labels. :)

PM me your email address & I'll send you a copy of one that I use which you can update with your own details.

I ordered a stamp here & just love it! I picked the biggest one, personalized it & added a space for a BCID.

I design my own with travel photos I've taken and then just cut them apart and either glue them in or use packing tape.

I like those stampers tough. Will have to see about getting one...
