Title: I'm having LASIK this Friday

terrafreaky - March 9, 2008 06:53 PM (GMT)
Has anyone here had it done?

Alsgal just mentioned she had eye surgery recently, so I'm thinking that's what she had done. You might want to check with her! :)

My hubby had his last April. It went wonderfully. He has 20/20 vision for the first time in his life since he was 10. :)

ETA:
Good luck with the procedure.

I got it two years ago and I still love it! No glasses/contacts and I can still see just fine!

I actually had PRK. Very similar to Lasik except they don't cut the flap. It takes longer to heal and a little longer for vision to stabilize.

I had mine done on Thursday. My vision is still fluctuating but I can definitely see a difference.

What's the pros/cons of having one over the other?
I've thought about having it done, but it freaks me the hell out to think about someone working on my eyes where I can see it, and I don't want to end up wearing glasses again at some point. My eyesight is horrible. (Thanks for the bad genes, Mom and Dad! :angry2: )

They actually take all these scans/measurements of your eyes and then told me I was a candidate for PRK. Evidently my cornea was too thin to do Lasik.

At the consultation , they pretty much tell you what your optons are and why they recommend each surgery.

I wanted to have it for a long time but was freaked out about the whole laser being used on my eye thing. As soon as it was done, I wondered why I put it off for so long.

We can chat about it Sunday at the meetup.

FYI, I know 5 people who've had it now, one of my best friends and my sister included, and all is well. So no worries.... it's easy as pie nowadays! Good luck!!

Tomorrow is the day. :) I'll be sleeping it off tomorrow so if anyone sees me up in any bookboxes (HIGHLY UNLIKELY) feel free to pass me by.

I had LASEK last summer. I absolutely love it! And think of all the money I save on contact solution!

Good luck!

Thinking of you today! I've only known one person so far that had it, but as far as I know, he's happy with it!

Good luck, I'm sure it'll be a breeze!

WTH. I am reading the first post and I am so surprised I have to reply
I had noticed this thread but not yet read it.
Here I was thinking you meant you would have a dog visiting this weekend, or maybe a nephew.

Mirp - March 23, 2008 11:50 PM (GMT)
I had it done a six months ago and never regretted it.

mellonhead - March 24, 2008 02:06 PM (GMT)
I want to hear how it went, terra! I'm so jealous. I want to have it so badly, but I'm not a candidate, yet.

terrafreaky - March 25, 2008 01:13 AM (GMT)
I'm alive & well. My vision is coming in at 20/20 now. I had some bad inflammation after it was done. I had to to steroid drops every hour for about a week. That's cleared up but I've still got a slight problem - one area of my eye doesn't look smooth. They've been keeping an eye on it. I go back in two weeks and if it hasn't cleared up, they'll be smooshing it flat for me.

I've got a couple posts here. http://www.43things.com/things/view/4/get-...urgery-or-lasik I think the person who wrote the post titled "Freaky" did a really great job of explaining what it was like. Except my laser was a blue/orange color.
