Description: from out of the USA please read

Lately all of my foreign packages--whether they be from Canada or Taiwan--all have to be signed. I don't know why and I'm pretty sure that no one hear ships with signature confirmation for just a routine package, but its been happening alot more recently. It wouldn't be an issue except all my packages coming in say 'Lexie Cenni' or 'L. Cenni' and the post office, being rather smart-asses and WAY too detail oriented for my comfort lately, gives me grief when I come to pick them up because my License states 'Alexandra Cenni', not Lexie Cenni, my nickname.

Mind you I went in there 4 seperate times over the last 3 weeks to pick up packages that needed my signature (and no one was home to sign for them, well I wasn't home and they wouldn't let anyone else sign for them) and I saw the same clerk all 4 times...and EVERY SINGLE TIME he gave me the same speech, same distrustful look and same angry sigh. I understand he sees alot of people, but you would think that since he was seeing me so often and giving me the riot act so very often it would leave an impression of some sort!

The entire point of this was to politely ask anyone sending me anything international to please label them 'Alexandra Cenni' from now on. I can't obviously ask you to change anything in the mail already (unless you have those sorts of connections, and if so hook us all up kay?), but for all future parcels it would be very much appreciated.

Thanks for your time!

Lexie

I just sent you something Lex - I cannot remember what I put on the label except it will be whatever you told me when I asked you for your addy :) I think it was A Cenni. I hope so!

:) no worries, I'm not worried about parcels sent to me recently since this problem didn't present itself to me until the last month so. Its just amazing that my PO can be so thickheaded as to insist that because my nickname doesn't match my first letter I am lying. While I'm happy to receive the books and things I wouldn't go to the extreme lengths they seem to think I am willing to go get these things!

I can understand that they might think it's odd for "Alexandra" to sign for a package addressed to "L", but the ones that say "Lexie" should not be a problem. Isn't it obvious that "Lexie" is a plausible nickname for Alexandra?

What an idiot. :dunce: If it weren't likely to make things even more difficult for you in the future, I'd be very tempted to complain to his supervisor or make a formal complaint. Sheesh.

Good for you to be so patient. :innocent:

no joke at all, I've had more then two dozen different problems wiht my local post office. shipping, receiving what have you. its why when I have to do internationals I go to the farther away, but WAY LESS HASSLE branch. Its not quite as convient for me, but then they are much nicer and understanding (not to mention they have common sense).

Apparently 'Lexie' is only a nickname for Alexis, no one has ever heard of itbeing a nickname for 'Alexandra'. :duh: I wonder sometimes at these people and how they got their jobs.

And yet they would probably have no problem accepting "Bill" as a nickname for "William". Where's the B in William, I ask you? If something came in addressed to "B. Smith" would they lecture the recipient the same way they did you? I think not...

Absence of reason vexes me.

Or Jimmy/Jim from Vincent. A couple of my dad's italian relatives send him chocolates every year and they go through that awful branch. and guess what? they never hassle him. Is it age discrimination or something? Or are they really just THAT ridiculously clueless?
