Description: or coins 4 coins

I was curious if any of you outside of the US , might be interested in helping my son to grow is coin collection. He has a small collection of coins/bills from other countries, but would love to have more.
I got to thinking about how often we tuck bills inside books for m-bags and postage costs. I was wondering if any of you migt be willing to do the same in this situation.
I'll send you a book of your choice and rather then trade book for a book ... you send the postage amount in your coins or bills for my son. I would also be willing to trade postcards or other small items ... shot glasses, keychains, etc.
If you are into coin collecting we could simply use a book trade as a way to switch currency's too.
Anyone interested? Just drop me a note and let me know what you'd like book or ????

You're prolly not interested in Canadian monies  I used to have Hong Kong coinage and Japanese coins... I was saving them for my nephew who turned out not to be interested in coin collecting after all... but I certainly don't have them with me now. If I stumble across anything interesting, though, I'll try to remember to let you know!

Even canadian would be cool. He only has a quarter and a nickel so far. He's pretty easily fascinated (lucky me). If you do run into any others, I'd happily trade you something for them. Thanks for keeping me in mind.

I collect coins too.... one idea is try coin shops.. dang near any of them will have foreign coins... collection wise they aren't "worth" much but I love 'em. You can usually get some really cheap in coin shops. I got a bunch of mine at a garage sale too. Ebay is also a good spot. The only ones i have a bunch of are Canadan pennys and stuff. I'll look and see what I can find in my coin can.

Thanks for the suggestions Lei. He's not really into the "worth" of the coin. Much like others collect postcards, he just likes having something unique from "places all over the world".
I figured since there are som many places represented here, it might be worth a try to see if anyone might be interested.

Hi rhb,
Does he have any coins from Australia? I'm happy to pop a few in the post for him if he doesn't - no book necessary!!
Just PM me with what he'd like and I'm zip down to the post office.

No he doesn't have any from Aussie yet. He'd be delighted to get any you care to share. His favorite at the moment of his collection are the 4 turkish pennies he has.
My hubby got them when he was in the Army.
Dustin just likes them cause they are tiny, and that makes them unique.
So it truly isn't the value at all. Anything you care to share would make his day. Thank You.

I thought about this last night. I went into the teacher's lounge in search of a coke while waiting for the cacus thing, I put in my buck, got my coke, and noticed a quarter in the change thing.. so I took it.. ( I know bad me, but collecting coins, just couldn't help myself)
So, anyway I get home, empty my pockets to check what treasure I got, as I knew it wasn't one of the state quaters, and looked old. ONLY it wasn't a quater but a FRANC. How in the world a 1961 Franc ended up in a US vending machine coin return slot is beyond me.

As the only representative of Brazil in the forum, I felt the urge to respond to your message.
I could send you some Brazilian currency, and I even guess I still have coins from Argentina and Chile from my last trip if you'd also be interested...
What I would lack of is available books to trade.
But I'm sure we can work something out together.

That would be "Stellar" :giggle: Sorry I had to say it.
Actually the book to trade was for me to send you one as a thank you for the coins. Unless you meant as something to mail them in???
I'll drop you a pm and see what we can come up with. :)

I can send a couple of NZ coins. So he also collects notes/bills? Because funny you should bring this up, but I've had a 5000 ruble note sitting next to the computer the last couple of weeks. It was from a trip to Russia about 10 years ago and I don't want it anymore. I figured I could offer it to someone on postcrossing, but hadn't got round to it yet.
Let me know if he'd like it and let me know your address again (cos I don't seem to have kept it).
