Box Guidelines:

• NEW RULE: If you owe books from more than 6 rounds ago, you should refrain from taking any new books out of the box until you've first caught up those past due obligations. (Books owed from less than 6 rounds ago, with m-bag organizers, or for which other arrangements have been made don't count towards this limit.)
• Turn time is 2 full days, or 48 hours, from the time the update announcing the player's turn is posted. If you are going to be away or otherwise inaccessible when your turn comes up, please let me know so that I can put a note by your name and your absence will not be treated as a "no-show" (see below).
• If the full 48 hours has passed with no word from the player, then the next player will take their turn. Do this for the next 3 players following the missing player, and if they still haven't checked in by then, they'll be bumped to the bottom of the list. Thiswill become their new permanent spot until the list is reshuffled.
• At the start of each round, an * is placed in front of each title still in the box to track how long it's been in. If a book you've put in isn't taken after 2 complete rounds (**), you must replace it with a different one on your next turn.
• The Box Organizer will be the official time keeper and determine a skip or bottom placement.
• New players will be accepted during play and added to the bottom of the list.

On Your Turn:

1. Select the books that you want to take out of the box and list them in your post.
2. Replace with the same number of books (or more) and link to the BookCrossing journal pages for each book(s).
3. If any of your books have "**" in front of them, they must be replaced now as well.
4. If you want to skip your turn, you have the option to be placed at the bottom of the list for another try this round. If you do this, it will become your new permanent spot until the next list reshuffle. (Reshuffling happens every 3 rounds.)
5. If you are willing and able to do the update, please do so. Before posting, verify that you've (1) listed your move in the Moves section, (2) added to the list of books the ones you're putting in, (3) removed from the list of books the ones you're taking out or replacing, and (4) listed the books you're taking out in the Books Out of Play section at the bottom, indicating they are going to you. (This is all fairly easy to do with cut and paste so long as you remember all the steps.) If you're new, don't worry about doing updates just yet!
6. Please PM the next person to let them know they're up.

So Amber was previousy #13. I'm not sure if anyone numbered 1-12 might want either of Amber's 2 books that were due to be replaced this round. That's kind of why I was initially thinking to have her do them when her turn would've normally came around (had it still been there).

I guess there's no harm in leaving them in there for the full time this round, and then having her replace them at the end then. Any objections?

To be honest I would have rathered replaced my books sooner than later. If I wait till the end that is another month of waiting to see if my books are removed...

Amberkatze I want your Dark Lies, I just have to wait and see if Nikel takes it first. So please don't take your books out just yet.

See Amber, that's why I wanted you to wait. I don't feel the other players should be penalized by not having a chance at your books just because they weren't able to take them last time around. I often wait a round myself if I don't have anything to put in for a particular book, and then if it's still there the following round, and I still want it, well then, maybe I'll try to grab it then and be more willing to offer up a TBR before it gets replaced.

That's all. I just figured we should at least wait until your turn normally was, which was spot 13, so that the 2 due to be replaced were in for 2 full rounds, instead of just 1 and a half. Can you see where I'm coming from?

I know you want to pull out, but there's no reason to be selfish and leave others with hurt feelings over it either. :shrug:

I know this has nothing to do with me, but I did speak with Amber about this because she requested the same thing in the teen VBB.

Cherie, I don't think that Amber is being selfish at all and I can not imagine why in the world anyone would have hurt feelings because she wants to replace her books now as opposed to later. Why would that hurt anyone's feelings?

She was thinking along the lines that since no one had taken them out before, and everyone had at least one opportunity in the prior round, that she would go ahead and replace them with books that others might want to take out, thus being able to send them out sooner. I would think that she would be thrilled that teachie wants one of the books, meaning one less she will have to worry about replacing. But I really so no reason to call her selfish. :shrug:

Yea a new round. Only problem I have is that I'm in the States (I LOVE VACATIONS!!!) and my books are in Bahrain. Hopefully, I can figure out what I have that I can use if there are any books that I would like to take. Guess I'm going to have to look through the list, because I'm sure my turn will come up before I get back from this LOVELY vacation.

Well I said it in more of a tongue in cheek maner :shrug: but still in jest, I saw the action as selfish... she doesn't want to wait another full month and wants to take her books out now, earlier than she would've if she were still playing. (As I said, I don't always take out books first time around, esp if they're not a wishlist book.) So by selfish, I simply meant that she was only looking at it from her point of view and not thinking of others who might want a chance to get her books (and thus feel bad cuz they couldn't get them). To me, that's one of the meanings of selfish: not thinking of other people... :shrug:


ETA - Me and Amber did discuss this offline of course, but depending on if there was stuff of hers that wasn't taken, I wasn't going to require her to replace every last one of her books either, if for example there were only 1 or 2 not taken, simply because she's lost at least that many books herself, stuff not received from others for one reason or another, plus has also sent out quite a few books to others in the Pay It Forward and Sand's Owed Book Thread. (Which of course was a very unselfish act.) So all that said, my comment was not meant to be mean, the way most of y'all seemed to take it. I was simply making a comment like, "don't be selfish and take your books and go home now" so please don't lecture or try to make more of this than there was. (I already PMed Amber just so she didn't get the same idea as everyone else...)

ETA2 - Unfortunately, since I realize now everyone misinterpreted me, I'd have gone back and edited my post had not everyone quoted me over and over. But please, cut me a little slack for the next week or so. I haven't had any sleep, Mike's leaving again for the week, I'm planning this huge thing for the weekend for my friend's 40th, there's been all this new stuff going on here not to mention the DB I designed, and I really cannot think straight anymore! :erm:

I am just wondering how long I should wait for nikel, cos it's way past 48 hours. I think I am the only person in this time Zone except for nikel so I will wait til tonight and then I will move her down a place if she hasn't made her moves by then.

I say till end of day today. Kathy stated earlier that she doesn't have Internet access over the weekend, and though as you said the 48 hours are up, I figured I'd give her Monday to come check in, so really only a day, but it'll extend her 2 days into 3 so that at least one of those is a weekday.... if that makes sense.

So yup I'll bump her if she's not here by tonight. :sleep:
