I'd get claustrophobic in there... but I think it's a neat little hidey hole

It's cute but I'm like you, I think I'd get a bit claustrophobic.

I like both of those! As a child/teenager, I would have LOVED that first one!!

I'm with Rosie. I'd have loved a room like that as a kid. I'd still love the staircase one. I might have to show it to my hubby as we are redoing the stairs here. :hmm:

Amazing! My hubby is a carpenter and I always show him these bookshelves to make for me when we buy our home. He just laughs at me and says that I don't need MORE room for books.

I love it!!!!!

I think I'm the opposite of claustrophobic. Since I was a kid I've always loved building forts around myself or burrowing down into small spaces, especially to read.

I was like that too - always making myself a little cave somewhere!

looks like a hella better way then how I used to store my books. when I lived in the townhouse I was the top bunk, so I laid a strip of wood between the edge of the bedframe and my wall (about 2 inches), then a large piece of plywood on the open side of the bed that fit between the bottom of my bed to the ceiling so it was an enclosed box. from there I had about 9 crates leaned against it and squashed myself a small lamp against the wall...I had no choice since I shared the 10 by 15 room wiht my younger sister (bottom bunk) and stepsister (futon) and they both had two dressers (I hung my clothes in the closet).

I guess I'd still enjoy the bedroom nowadays. :giggle:

Neat! I don't like small spaces either.
Out of the two I like the hut :)

I think they're both great! I like small. I guess since I've been to Japan, I've learned to appreciate the benefits of even small spaces. And since moving in here with my fiancé and his two school-age sons, I have to say that I could really come to appreciate having even a tiny little nook that was my own space, y'know?

The stairwell is quite something! I showed the picture to Blair and he said he'd totally approve of trying to work something like that into the renovation plans when we buy our house. Since I'd prolly be the one doing the hammering, I'm really excited that he'd let me get away with being so blatantly bookish in design!
