Title: What should I read next?
Description: of the many books I need to review

Antheras - January 23, 2007 05:20 PM (GMT)
So please help me pick the next few books to read for review. I'm spoiled for choices.

EllyMae58 - January 23, 2007 07:06 PM (GMT)
I voted for Special Topics in Calamity Physics, 'cause that's a wish of mine. (And the only title I'm familiar with.) :P

Antheras - January 23, 2007 07:20 PM (GMT)
Always a good reason Kel....thanks!

SandDanz - January 23, 2007 07:22 PM (GMT)
Ermmmm... I love polls, but I don't know any of these books, so I can't really vote. I'll try to look them up later and see if I can pick one though. :)

It was a hard choice between Calamity of Physics and the Peter Carey novel. (Both I would steal from you in a swap).
Alas I picked the Peter Carey book

cheesygiraffe - January 23, 2007 07:53 PM (GMT)
I picked The Sound of No Hands Clapping: a Memoir by Toby Young because it's the only one I've heard of. ;)

Antheras - January 23, 2007 08:07 PM (GMT)
Again, all good reasons. That's why I put links because I figured some wouldn't be familiar to people.

I picked Get a Life because Nadine Gordimer is the only author on your list that I've read.

CheriePie - January 24, 2007 03:13 AM (GMT)
sowwie. I'm with Sand... I don't recognize any either, so I'll have to come back when I have a little more time and read up on each of them at amazon.

We have a three way tie currently - anyone want to help break it?

paganfrog - January 24, 2007 05:41 PM (GMT)
voted for hundred and one days, cos its the only book ive heard of but havent read yet. (i have read bookseller of kabul and thought it a good book)

Antheras - January 25, 2007 02:07 PM (GMT)
Keep the votes coming! The books for the May ELLE jury just arrived so they go to the top of the pile. So I won't start one of these until after Feb. 12.

chronicbooker3 - January 25, 2007 02:20 PM (GMT)
What books did you get for Elle :D

Antheras - January 25, 2007 02:28 PM (GMT)
I can't really say.... :P but they aren't familiar authors. ;)

zzz - February 3, 2007 11:48 PM (GMT)
WOW great choices! I’m familiar with most of these (books/authors) and I voted for Asne Seierstad because I’d like to see your review about that one :)

Antheras - February 4, 2007 01:54 PM (GMT)
Thanks zzz! Looks like Asne is winning slightly. I'm taking part in WoM's "Debut a Debut" Feb. 12 - 17 so I'll have to review it after that. Since the Pessl book is a debut, I'll be posting my review of that on February 14.
