camis - February 27, 2008 08:29 AM (GMT)
This will probably be on its way mid-March.

Just to let you all know :D

fantasy221 - February 28, 2008 04:46 AM (GMT)
eek! I have another book to send. I vowed I wasn't mailing anything else out for a while after my $40 postage bill today but I guess I'll have to make an exception for this!!

candieb - March 28, 2008 03:40 PM (GMT)
Just a note that I was going to send this Monday, but I'm holding it for one last book, if you are sending something and I haven't received it, you need to let me know ASAP so I don't send it :-)

Okay, I have one coming from rootmartin and another from fantasy221 - if you have one, please mail it in the next couple of days and tell me so I wait for it, as soon as these two are here, it's going out.

camis - March 30, 2008 06:37 AM (GMT)
Thanks Candy

I better clear some room somewhere.....

rootmartin - March 31, 2008 02:33 PM (GMT)
I mailed the book at the post office this morning!

fantasy221 - April 2, 2008 02:18 AM (GMT)
I mailed by book yesterday as well. Hopefully it will travel on wings!

I have both of these and we'll be packing the books up to go out soon. I know the USPS has some one rate international.. anyone know anything about those?

You're not talking about the flat rate priority boxes, are you?

To the UK:
QUOTE
Priority Mail International — Flat Rate

Flat-Rate Envelope (9.5" x 12.5"): $11.00
May contain items that may be sent as First-Class Mail International. The maximum weight is 4 lbs.

Flat-Rate Boxes: Regular — $37.00; Large — $49.95
Merchandise is permitted, but written communications having the nature of current and personal correspondence are not permitted. The maximum weight is 20 lbs. or the limit set by the individual country, whichever is less.

If you could actually fit 20lbs. of books in the larger flat rate box, it'd be cheaper than the m-bag rate, which would cost $57. But I doubt the large box is big enough for that many books...

candieb - April 9, 2008 06:37 PM (GMT)
Ah, I was just wondering because I saw a sign earlier that said "new" larger size, but didn't ask because there were a zillion people in there.

msjoanna - April 9, 2008 08:23 PM (GMT)
Finally found the dimensions of the large box --> 12” x 12” x 5-1/2”
The "regular" box comes in a couple of versions: 11" X 8.5" X 5.5" OR 11-7/8" x 3-3/8" x 13-5/8"

I haven't experimented with putting books in these, but my hunch is that it's hard to get the 17 lbs. you'd need to make it more cost efficient than the m-bag. But maybe for Australia where the m-bag rate is more expensive.

For the UK, a 20 lb. m-bag would cost $57. A 17 lb. is $48.45 -- pretty close to the rate for the flat rate box. And the m-bag is charged per pound, so as soon as you're over 17, you're in the flat rate box territory.

For Australia/NZ, a 20 lb. m-bag would cost a whopping $90. Just 11 lbs. costs $49.50 -- the minimum m-bag cost.

So if 11 lbs or more of books can be crammed into the large flat rate box, it seems like a good way to go...

(cross posting to the general m-bag thread)

You rock! I got fed up at the usps website and left. LOL. I'll have to weigh them and grab a "large" box this week and see which way is best to get these to her. If it's less than $20, I'll probably just send it priority because getting my PO to order and understand MBags was a feat - and the guy that finally did it no longer works there. LOL. I have to drink heavily before going there. LOL

This assumes I'm able to cram them in there. Right now, they are in a 12X12X8 box with a little wiggle room so I suspect you might be right, but darn it, I'll try anything once! LOL

candieb - April 29, 2008 02:15 PM (GMT)
I have printed the labels and it will be going to the PO tomorrow. It's going out in 2 flat rate priority boxes and should be there within 6-10 days. Enjoy!

camis - April 29, 2008 05:48 PM (GMT)
Great - thanks Candy

This left on 4/30... I'm interested to see how long it really takes and if they arrive intact!

For other M-baggers... it was $77 (printed online to save a few bucks). I didn't count the books, but I could have put another book or two in there. I used 2 regular sized Priority Mailers.. I realized after hubby mailed them that I didn't wrap them in plastic or anything, but they should be fine.

It said it will take them 6-10 days.

And my PO are IDIOTS. They apparently didn't know how to arrange the custom forms that we printed out AND tried to charge us again for the postage we printed online.

1 box has arrived today :bananadance: According to the UPS website, the other one 'left the US on 5/3' !

candieb - May 8, 2008 02:03 PM (GMT)
Oohh... WooHoo! That timing was really good...

*starts to worry about the other box*
(did you know I was a worry wart?)

camis - May 13, 2008 12:03 PM (GMT)
The other half of my m-bag is here :bananadance: I had to go and pickit up from the PO today. Now to start journalling them all.....

candieb - May 13, 2008 12:16 PM (GMT)
