Title: Are There Books You Want?
Description: Maybe I can Help
lexilewords - February 27, 2008 03:23 AM (GMT)
hey guys!
so in March and april my good friend Melissa and myself go on book sale hunts. that is to say we have nothing better to do with our time (or hard earned money) then to go hunting dusty book sales at musty reformist churches and snobby schools.
that being said! The two big ones we're attending (at Princeton Day School and Flemington) always have such a variety of books that I'm speechless. I never realized how narrow-minded I was about reading until I went to these! And since I'm going on the half price or better days and the $5 a box days, I will be able to get quite a few books for a very cheap price! (last year I fit 37 paperbacks and 12 hardbacks into a paper grocery bag without it busting, spent like $7 altogether...)
So I thought I might be able to help out some of you. Instead of wishlist trolling and writing down those which I think I might be able to find--truly these sales are all donated material practically so you get anything from brand new few months old chick lit to older then the 1950s academia--I thought I might ask US domestic to list 5-6 books and Int'l (including Canada) 2-3 books, that they have trouble finding for whatever reason and I will do my best to search out as many as I can.
The only things I ask for in return are for you guys to pay the postage when all is said and done. I don't mind buying'em (since I'm buying in bulk anyhow), but postage can get quite expensive. I will contact each of you if I find the books you requested at the March sale and you can then decide if you wish to wait until the end of April when the next sale happens and see if I find more of the books you wanted, or to ship them out seperately.
If you have any then please post them HERE and email them to me at my GMAIL addy (easier to keep track of): Lexie.Cenni@gmail.com . I'm not guranteeing anything, but in the past I have found a surprising amount of books that I thought I wouldn't be able to.
A few things to keep in mind though:
*The April Book Sale is April 27th, so any packages waiting for this sale also won't go out until Early-mid May.
*Delivery Confirm will be free of charge, so that I can also keep track of the packages.
*Alot of these books are ex-library--meaning library stickers, markings etc. Just keep that in mind if you are looking for something not used. I won't send out a book that is barely readable though.
*Feel free to list more then 6 books, but I will only pick up 6 books from your list.
*If you'd like me to look for a book for an exchange group (RMTBRBB, Indecisives, Chapters, Book Divas etc) member, just send that to me in private in the email and I will let you know if I find it or not.
Any other questions just let me know! I'll keep this open until prolly March 15th or so.

I wish Princeton wasn't such a drive for me, or I would say I would join you. I love a good book sale. There's a couple of good ones coming up around here too - I love book sale season!

What a nice offer!
I've been wishing for these three:
Around the World in Eighty Martinis by Gustav Temple & Vic Darkwood
The Millionaire Float by Kirsty Brooks
Broken Poems by Mark Gonzales
I might break down and buy Broken Poems for ~$40 on abebooks since my son wants it and his birthday's coming up soon. Will let you know if I do.
Thanks, and happy hunting!

Getting in my request for
1. ANY Lora Leigh title ... including any anthol. where she's one of the authors! Trying to keep it simple for you as you browse thru tons of books ... even if it's a book I've already read, I'll offer it here first or otherwise pass on into Book World.
2. A Taste of Blood Wine - Freda Warrington
That's it. Will email you now.
Thanks, Lexie!

I would be thrilled with any Terry Pratchett you might find. I have a group of kids at school into them and would love more to share.
or
Julia Flynn Sile The House of Mondavi: The Rise and Fall of an American Wine Dynasty
Colin Cotterill Anarchy and Old Dogs
Alexander McCall Smith At the Villa of Reduced Circumstances
21/2 Pillars of Wisdom
Thank you!

Heh. I have some obscure books I'm really looking for:
--Angels by Denis Johnson
--A Well-Paid Slave: Curt Flood's Fight for Free Agency in Professional Sports by Brad Snyder -- found this one!
-- The high cost of free parking by Donald C. Shoup
--Perfect Circle by Sean Stewart
--anything by Kelly Link OR any anthology of short stories with her as an author
and a couple of others that I'll send only over email.
Thanks much!
