Title: LoveMyLife: How's your Dear Hubby?

ladiibbug - February 26, 2008 06:37 PM (GMT)
Hi Gerda ~

How'd your DH's surgery go? :vibes: and

lovemylife - February 26, 2008 11:16 PM (GMT)
All the way to the hospital I'm chewing my nails and have a horrendous stomach ache, while he's sitting there cracking jokes. Then after we get there, they almost didn't do the surgery because his blood pressure was sky high. So I guess I wasn't the only one who was nervous.
They got his pressure down and the surgery went well. When I left he was watching TV and wasn't in any pain. Or so he said. We'll have to wait and see how his rehab goes once they get him on his feet.

that first part at least was me and my DH last April, he had to have a cardiac cath, turns out for no reason, and the whole time I'm falling apart, and he's just cracking jokes with the hospital staff. Some support I turned out to be!

Sending best wishes and speedy healing vibes to you all!

Hi Gerda ~

Glad your Hubby's surgery went well. Knee replacement, right? Was that a full-on surgery, or were they able to go in arthroscopically (sp??) with limited trauma?

So nerve wracking to have a loved one in the hospital!

It was a total knee replacement. The doc had his tool belt on, so major trauma. The buzzer will go off at the airport if he ever decides to fly somewhere. :D They had him sitting up at the side of the bed today, but he didn't make it from the bed to the chair yet. Since he's supposed to be coming home on Friday already, I hope that won't be a problem by then.

lovemylife - February 29, 2008 01:06 AM (GMT)
Well, I guess hubby is doing fine. He got yelled at by the nurse today because he hopped out of bed and went to the bathroom without help. So he's sitting in there, chastised, waiting for the nurse and he's grumbling: "How long does it take her to get here? I could be back in bed by now." So he's doing fine and I think with that attitude he'll be back to normal in no time.

ladiibbug - February 29, 2008 01:41 AM (GMT)
"doc had his tool belt on" :shudder: :runaway:

Glad to hear your DH is up already! How will he do rehab? Does he go to a rehab / hospital-like facility, or go home and visit an outpatient center?

A couple people from the So. California dog park where we hung out had knee replacements over the years, and after the rehab was over, they were so happy they'd gone thru with it! After rehab they were able to walk the paths and trails and get back to enjoying a more active life.

 That sounds like a good sign. I'm glad to hear he's ready to be up and about, even if the nurse is being cautious. Best wishes to him for a speedy recovery!
