Title: 7yr old wants a sibling
Description: here's her suggestion to me

Here's the deal my 7 year old daughter wants a brother or sister. For like 2 years she's been begging for us to have another baby. In the past week she's been asking how do we get one?(i'm stalling on that one). Well we're watching the TLC Health channel and it had a pregnant woman talking about Pregnancy for Dummies. My daughter runs into the kitchen all excited and says "mom i found the perfect thing for you" and i ask her what? Her reply "Pregnancy for Dummies, that way i can have a brother or sister". I couldn't help but laugh. I promise it was much funnier than this post sounds.

BTW if any of you have books explaining the birds and bees to children i would love to trade, mooch, borrow, i can't put off answering her forever. :giggle:

My parent's read "Where Did I come From" and then rented the film for me when I was about 4.

Personally, I thought the film was hilarious and that's what I always asked my mom to rent. I remember how embarrased she used to get when she asked for it at Federated, like she was watching it specifically for herself...

:giggle: I remembered wanting a younger sister. I had 2 older brothers but I wanted a girl to play with but my mom cut me off fast with that. She told me she was fixed and couldn't have anymore.

That's the book my mom gave me and I recommended it to my friend when she needed to explain it to her sons. I think it's great. So is the companion, "What's Happening to Me?". The pictures are so funny!

I got the "talk" so often, I couldn't even tell you how my parents did... I would get the version of "now honey we don't touch those parts on other people" :giggle:

(I've always been a bit off.)

My mom did tell me when I was about 4, I came into her room and demanded to know what it would be like when the new baby got here. They kept telling me there is no new baby. I kept on, and on, and it bugged the crap out of her until she went to the dr. Turns out I started bugging her the morning after she got knocked up with my sister. :giggle:

LMAO...and this is why I absolutely adore kids!

DF's cousin has a 5 y/o. She will tell anyone who listens how she's getting a baby brother very soon. People congratulate her mom all the time when she brings it up in public.

The only problem is her mom isn't pregnant.

Yeah, that was my Mom's answer too. I always wanted to ask her how I eventually got my two younger brothers. Since my parents divorced, I think it was probably lack of sex, not lack of eggs, but Mom would NEVER use the word "sex."
DS is an only child. We just told him that if you do it right the first time, you don't have to try again.
