Title: Anyone interested in a Historical Romance Swap

terra57 - February 25, 2008 03:55 PM (GMT)
Would like to know if there is any interest in a Historical Romance swap. Books must be 2003 or newer and no Harlequin or Silhouette books. This is open to US/Canada residents. Vote and then post here.

I definitely would be. I've been ordering up historical romances like crazy!

Could you maybe give some examples of "Historical Romance" that you're thinking of...? Or, maybe some pre-2003 examples, just so I can work my head around it? I mean... Would a historical fictionalization of the story of Queen Esther count as "historical romance"?

If it is romance, is historical (meaning pre 1750) and was published after 2003 then it is fine.

Not to stir up a debate (famous last words) but I'm interested in swapping the genre but not in the geographic restrictions. I'm just not comfortable with the geo restrictions for swaps yet - sorry! Have fun!

I think I'll sit out this one. I don't believe I have anything on my bookshelf right now that would qualify, and I don't like swapping with TBRs (makes me nervous). I'll watch this one, to get an idea of the kinds of books that get offered up, and participate next time when I've had a chance to read something to share!

Historical is pre 1750? I always include the 19th century as historical, too. Most of the ones I read take place in the 1800s. Lisa Kleypas, Julia Quinn, Liz Carlyle and such.

Actually you're right and should include the 1800's.

I would be, of course, but prolly not the first one until I get things under control with my family.

Historical romances have been entertaining me big time lately!! I'm gonna sit this one out, but when's the next one?

So anything pre-1900 (but published 2003 or later) hmmm. Cool!

bemaia - February 29, 2008 02:02 AM (GMT)
I would love to, but I'm from Australia.

But that's a great idea!

Cheers!

I like that idea. :D Or just make it a quick bookbox this time around.

terra57 - February 29, 2008 06:45 PM (GMT)
How about I set up a vbb every for other month.

fantasy221 - March 1, 2008 02:49 AM (GMT)
Sounds good to me! I just got a bunch-load of HistRoms as a result of my search for funny historical romances. Luckily I have some others that are already read.

Or wait, Terra, would you rather just join the romance vbb? Its already set up and everything, and us two are already in it. It makes no difference to me, what you want - just thought I would offer!
