Title: Miserable Weather
Description: How's yours????

meshe - February 22, 2008 04:49 PM (GMT)
It is raining non-stop here today and cold brrrrr :cold: (okay, for me it's cold 48F with rain is cold in South Georgia!). It would be a great day to stay in and  or :read:, but I've got to help a friend with her 9 year olds' :birthday: party! What was I thinking when I agreed to help with 10! 9 year olds (and the 1 year old baby brother) ??? :duh:

cheesygiraffe - February 22, 2008 04:53 PM (GMT)
Poor Meshe. It's 54 here and raining. It feels more like March than February all month long with all the windy weather we've had.
I do not envy you. I have a 9 year old. I don't want 10 in them in the same place. :giggle: I would help with the 1 year old though. That's my favorite age.

ladyjanet - February 22, 2008 05:13 PM (GMT)
Beautiful Snow yesterday, more today, then a heat wave- above freezing for a few days and snow again next week. We are about 20 degrees below normal ( or is that Normal?) this week.

Does that mean it's below Normal's normal?

redhot-brat - February 22, 2008 05:24 PM (GMT)
We are having a heatwave here today. It's 12 degrees and even with the windchill it's still 6. I actually managed to take my dogs for a real walk, rather then the 2 minute potty break every 2 hours. :) Still had to put Slick's coat on, but he loved it just the same.

candieb - February 22, 2008 05:43 PM (GMT)
We have had some really gorgeous weather this month, for the most part, here in Austin. It's 55 here today, bright and sunny and gorgeous outside.

Talk to me in July. LOL

Three - February 22, 2008 06:06 PM (GMT)
It's lovely here. A balmy 16 degrees ABOVE zero with no wind, sun is shining and the best weather we've had all week.

chambejd - February 22, 2008 06:21 PM (GMT)
Thanks goodness for the bad weather - our office is closing at 2pm! (just snow today). Hopefully my 3 mile commute home won't take me 50 minutes like it did last time we closed for snow.

nursiegirl42 - February 22, 2008 06:35 PM (GMT)
We have had 2 days now of freezing rain and sleet.. so it has been delightful here! NOT!

stellarv - February 22, 2008 07:43 PM (GMT)
Meanwhile, summer in Brazil is not as hot as previous years. 35°C (95F) and a beautiful sunny day. :)

HoserLauren - February 22, 2008 08:09 PM (GMT)
I'm in Virginia for my reading week. They had some freezing rain here last night and are expecting some more tonight, so not the nicest of weather.

I had to chuckle at myself 2 nights ago when they were expecting 1-2 inches of snow and were canceling night classes at local schools. All the trucks were out waiting on the road.... and the snow never came. Canceling school for 1-2 inches of snow is a joke in itself, but for snow that never comes? :giggle:

CheriePie - February 22, 2008 10:20 PM (GMT)
Snowing here since about 9:30 this morning, and so far we've got about 6 inches on the ground. Supposedly we're supposed to get about 6 to 9 where I'm at.

Dammit, I just knew I'd jinx myself by changing my Pogo mini out of her winter clothes, snow, and penguins, and into a mermaid outfit with stream and fairies, and my caption to read ♀ ♥ Spring is in the air! ♫ ♂

Grrrr :duh:

I've only gotten 4.5 inches so far out in Worcester and it was already snowing at 7am when I got up this morning. I can't believe that Boston is getting more than we are! For once our Boston office closed at noon and the Worcester office stayed open til 2pm. Usually we are the first to close but it just hasn't been too bad, just the light snow all day (no ice thank goodness).

luckaye - February 22, 2008 10:52 PM (GMT)
It is Hot, Hot, HOT!!! Supposed to get to 36c (97f) here today - it is already 28c (82f) and it is not even 9am yet!
Cold showers & fan, here I come!!! :giggle:

You're right, that is unusual. You gals out west usually get it worse than us! And I had thought from the forecasts that'd still be the case with this storm.

But since you say you had the light, thin stuff all day, that must be where the difference is. Though it did start out like that here, we started to get the heavier, thicker stuff about 1:30 or 2. Mike said that there was only about an inch and a half on the ground when he got home about that time, and it was shortly thereafter that it converted over to the thicker flakes and started accumulating a bit more.

That must be it! We haven't had any of the thick stuff at all.

CheriePie - February 23, 2008 12:23 AM (GMT)
And about 8 inches now!! :bash: Though it looks like it's finally starting to let up a bit, so hopefully we'll stay under the 9 inch mark here. *crosses fingers*

I'll be curious to hear what your final totals are there Joy when it's all done snowing. (I assume you're still getting the light stuff coming down.)

TITurtle1 - February 23, 2008 04:06 AM (GMT)
Hmmm... snow. A lot of it. <_<

I take the bus standing in the middle of the snow storm at six in the morning, only to reach school and find out both my professors cancelled, and no one showed up for work. What happened to email? :soapbox: So I ended up waiting for the bus for another hour, and didn't get home until 9:30.

lexilewords - February 23, 2008 06:43 AM (GMT)
well my commute in was interesting. I take a highway (rt.295north) to get to another highway (rt.206north) to get to my job. My job is located just outside of Princeton Proper (where the University is). Getting off of 295 there's a light just off the ramp dividing between Princeton Borough (rich) and Lawrence (not as rich, but still better off then most people).

Today that light also was the dividing line between shitty, icy, slushy road mess and amazingly perfect street with little to no slush/snow/ice. I mean the change was so sudden I could FEEL it under my car immediately. It made me laugh later on 'cause I can't imagine how much more they must pay the snow trucks so that the difference is so drastic...

They might have heated streets.

Seriously.

There is one neighborhood around here that has heated streets. Snow plows? Pshh! The snow melts right off!

That would NOT be my neighborhood...

:nono: Bad professor. My daughter lives on campus and was lucky enough to get the building that has the campus dining hall (no going outside first thing in the morning for breakfast) and the mailroom to get packages from home. :D

Weather wise we are like many of you. Typical for this time of year is Snow, 20's with single digit wind chills.

 well if anyone would have it, it would people in Princeton bunch of snobby wannabe eejits running around putting their nose in the air and acting like they own the world :ahem: now I wish to lay on the street and find out...

How frustrating for you, Turtle! I hope the profs e-mail you next time this happens.

We were expecting frozen rain yesterday (school would be cancelled in that case, so I stayed up too late reading Thursday night) but -- nothing.

There was heavy fog around 6 - 8 pm last night when I was driving my son back from Richmond. It was so bad that I asked him to drive because my eyes were burning and I wanted to be able to read some more when we got home.

Where are you in Virginia, Hoserlauren? I've been releasing lots of good books along US 360 from Danville to Richmond.

shaunesay - February 24, 2008 03:49 AM (GMT)
It's snowing AGAIN! I've had enough! I give! *runs around in circles muttering like a lunatic*

terrafreaky - February 24, 2008 03:52 AM (GMT)
Yeah, what Shaunie said. Blegh.

ladyjanet - February 24, 2008 04:39 AM (GMT)
More GEORGEOUS snow this morning, just enough to dust everyting, and a day in the woods tapping trees again. The sap is starting to run... we got sapcicles! Perfect weather to be outside.

SciFisstrs - February 24, 2008 06:50 AM (GMT)
To come to think about we were lucky here for most of the winter our weather wasn't so bad. I think I'm having those winter blues. I saw a robin the other day. Maybe a sign that it will be nice soon

meshe - February 24, 2008 02:03 PM (GMT)
Yesterday was beautiful (and much needed after the yucky Friday) and today promises to be just about at nice. Yesterday was a clear sunny day with a temp around 70F today, more of the same. I'm just thankful that the yucky days are few and far between.

Don't hate me, I'll be whining again this summer when it's 102 and the humidity is 99%!

ladyjanet - February 25, 2008 05:16 PM (GMT)
well by My Weather Station it's about 32 degrees (F) dry, cloudy (clouds only up 231 feet) 96% humidity, wind chill of 28 degrees, very light winds (for us) and rain and snow on the way.

I love having our own weather station and my boss is a geek who found this way cool software.
