Mailed books today to Sejent and Lexilewords, Media rate, and to GateGypsy and Buffy25 in Canada First Class. So it's a race - which is faster, media rate within the US or First Class to Canada?

lexilewords - February 22, 2008 04:56 AM (GMT)
i'll lay a bet that I get my books before anyone in Canada any takers?

GateGypsy - February 22, 2008 06:40 AM (GMT)
Y'know, if I lived in Vancouver, or Victoria, or even Ladysmith, I would bet against you, Lexie -- but I live in Whitehorse, where it takes a week for a letter to get from one side of town to the other

lexilewords - February 26, 2008 12:10 AM (GMT)

Wow, I just noticed that you live up there. We were in Carcross last September. So beautiful. Too bad I am such a baby about driving in snow.

Wow, I just noticed that you live up there. We were in Carcross last September. So beautiful. Too bad I am such a baby about driving in snow.

This winter we bought a car that I could drive (the last one the driver's seat was broken and couldn't be adjusted and I was too darned short to reach the pedals, so I couldn't drive it!), and I had to get over my fear of driving in the snow pretty darned fast. I had no choice but to. Growing up on Vancouver Island, we had the luxury of getting to panic when it snowed and hide in our houses and close the schools, but up here nothing would ever get done if we hid from the snow! (just like nothing would ever happen on the Island if we panicked 'cause it was raining  ) Still, driving in the kind of snow one gets on a mountainous island where people aren't used to snow-driving at all is entirely different from driving in the kind of snow one gets in the semi-arid north-of-sixty-more-or-less-flat city of Whitehorse where everyone is used to driving in it 7 months out of the year...

But the real reason I'm posting in this thread is to let Rannie know my books have arrived! :bananacheer: thank you!
